This BMW has water leakage occurred underneath the engine compartment and consequently, engine overheat warning has shown on the dashboard. After an investigation by removing a number of engine components, our mechanic found that one of the hoses connecting the expansion tank and cylinder head had damaged and caused the engine to overheat.

With time and exposure to temperature changes, those plastic i.e. expansion tank and its cap or rubber hoses can weaken and deteriorate. Only regular maintenance can detect loose and deteriorating hoses or other issues that can lead to a leaking coolant.
