Small-scale mining is the backbone of Guyana's gold sector.

According to EITI Guyana, the artisanal and small-scale gold mining sector accounts for approximately 88% of Guyana's gold production, and it's fully legalised, which is a rare distinction globally.

It employs over 15,000 people directly across the hinterland, and unlike most countries where small-scale mining operates in legal grey areas, Guyana's miners operate under the Mining Act of 1989 with proper licensing.

This is the sector GGDMA was built to support and represent.

On Saturday, LYNX Logistics, The Guyana Mixed Martial Arts Federation (GYMMA) and Parc Rayne together hosted, in their newly acquired professional MMA cage, exhibition fights.

This new equipment provides fighters with a proper competition environment and supports safer, more consistent training.

Officials said the cage will be used for amateur and professional matches, community showcases, and development tournaments that help prepare athletes for regional and international competition.

The federation aims to host monthly fight nights and larger cards several times a year, pending venue and regulatory approvals.
