🌲 Μόνο εγώ, η 701 και ένας χωματόδρομος μέσα στο πράσινο.

Στο δάσος της Κάνισκας, στην Πελοπόννησο, αυτές είναι οι στιγμές που απολαμβάνω περισσότερο τη solo βόλτα: χώμα, στροφές και το δάσος γύρω μου. 🏍️

🏍️ «Ακολούθα με!» είπε ο ντόπιος… και τον ακολουθήσαμε!

Εκείνος με τη γουρούνα του κι εμείς με τις μοτοσυκλέτες, μέσα στο ανηφορικό δάσος. Χωρίς δρόμο. Χωρίς μονοπάτι. Μόνο δέντρα και η απορία: «Από πού θα βγούμε;» 🌲😅

He led the way on his ATV, and we followed on our motorcycles into a steep forest. No road. No trail. Just trees and one question: “Where does this come out?” 🌲😅

🇬🇪 Georgia Diaries | Part 3 — Into the mountains

Leaving Gori behind, we finally headed for higher ground on our Beta RR 430s. Mountain passes, lush green slopes, and churches and monasteries along the way—a different side of Georgia unfolding with every kilometre. 🏍️

Among the grazing flocks, we met the imposing Caucasian shepherd dogs, the region’s traditional livestock guardians. Very much on duty!

By now, we were finding our rhythm as a group, too. Alongside us were four fellow riders from Germany, sharing the adventure, with our guides leading the way. Each day on the trails brought us all closer together.

Our destination was Bakuriani, a mountain town and ski resort at around 1,700 metres above sea level. The rain arrived after we did, rounding off a day that had taken us well above the heat of the lowlands.

Dinner on a restaurant’s covered rooftop terrace, Georgian flavours on the table, and rain outside. A good place to end another day on the bikes. 🌧️🍽️

🇬🇪 Ημερολόγιο Γεωργίας | Μέρος 3 — Ανεβαίνοντας στα βουνά

Αφήνουμε πίσω το Γκόρι και επιτέλους ανεβαίνουμε ψηλότερα με τα Beta RR 430. Ορεινά περάσματα, καταπράσινες πλαγιές και εκκλησίες και μοναστήρια στη διαδρομή — μια διαφορετική πλευρά της Γεωργίας ξεδιπλώνεται με κάθε χιλιόμετρο. 🏍️

Ανάμεσα στα κοπάδια συναντάμε και τους επιβλητικούς ποιμενικούς του Καυκάσου, τους παραδοσιακούς φύλακες των κοπαδιών της περιοχής. Και φυσικά, βρίσκονται σε ώρα υπηρεσίας!

Πλέον δένουμε και σαν παρέα. Μαζί μας στην ίδια περιπέτεια είναι τέσσερις ακόμη αναβάτες από τη Γερμανία, ενώ οι οδηγοί μας αναλαμβάνουν να μας δείξουν τα περάσματα. Κάθε μέρα στα μονοπάτια μάς φέρνει όλους πιο κοντά.

Προορισμός μας το Μπακουριάνι, μια ορεινή κωμόπολη και χιονοδρομικό κέντρο σε υψόμετρο περίπου 1.700 μέτρων. Η βροχή μάς προλαβαίνει αφού έχουμε φτάσει, κλείνοντας μια μέρα που μας έφερε πια αρκετά ψηλότερα από τη ζέστη των πεδινών.

Δείπνο στη στεγασμένη ταράτσα ενός εστιατορίου, γεωργιανές γεύσεις στο τραπέζι και βροχή απ’ έξω. Ωραίο κλείσιμο για άλλη μια μέρα στις μηχανές. 🌧️🍽️

For those who saw my first post/video about the Husqvarna 701 engine rebuild, here’s Part 2.
The engine is now out, and this time I’m getting into the top end — removing and inspecting the camshaft, head, cylinder and piston.
The bike has around 43,000 km, was consuming quite a bit of oil, and the intake valves had already reached the thinnest available shims.
Now that everything is coming apart, I’d really like to hear from those of you with experience working on the KTM 690 / Husqvarna 701 LC4 engine.
What do you think about the condition of the piston and cylinder? Would you reuse them after proper measurements, or replace them?

🇬🇪 Georgia Diaries | Part 2 — The adventure begins
Time to gear up and get on our Beta RR 430s. 🏍️
Our first day on the bikes was all about finding our rhythm. Getting used to unfamiliar machines, tackling some demanding trails, and dealing with relentless heat at low altitude. An intense introduction to riding in Georgia!

The day ended in Gori, Stalin’s birthplace, with a traditional Georgian meal and a chance to recharge after our first day on the trails.

The next morning, before breakfast, I squeezed in a short walk around town. Buildings, the Georgian flag, the Stalin monument, and his personal armoured railway carriage outside the museum—a few glimpses of Gori before getting back on the bikes. 📸

🇬🇪 Ημερολόγιο Γεωργίας | Μέρος 2 — Η περιπέτεια ξεκινά
Ώρα για εξοπλισμό και πάνω στα Beta RR 430. 🏍️
Η πρώτη μέρα στις μηχανές ήταν μέρα προσαρμογής. Να μάθουμε τις μοτοσυκλέτες, να βρούμε τον ρυθμό μας και να βγάλουμε αρκετά απαιτητικά μονοπάτια, με την αφόρητη ζέστη στο χαμηλό υψόμετρο να κάνει την προσπάθεια ακόμα πιο δύσκολη. Δυνατή πρώτη γεύση από οδήγηση στη Γεωργία!

Η μέρα έκλεισε στο Γκόρι, τη γενέτειρα του Στάλιν, με ένα παραδοσιακό γεωργιανό γεύμα και λίγη ξεκούραση μετά τα πρώτα μας χιλιόμετρα στα μονοπάτια.

Το επόμενο πρωί, πριν το πρωινό, πρόλαβα μια μικρή βόλτα στην πόλη. Κτήρια, η γεωργιανή σημαία, το μνημείο του Στάλιν και το προσωπικό του θωρακισμένο βαγόνι έξω από το μουσείο — μερικές εικόνες από το Γκόρι, πριν ξανανεβούμε στις μηχανές. 📸

Κάποιες εικόνες δεν χωρούν σε λόγια. Η επίσκεψή μας στην Πέτρα της Ιορδανίας ήταν μία από αυτές τις εμπειρίες που μένουν μαζί σου.

🇬🇪 Georgia Diaries | Part 1 — First steps in Tbilisi
Our trip to Georgia started with a late-night landing in Kutaisi. The next morning, a taxi ride brought us to Tbilisi, and we headed straight out to explore.

Georgia’s capital stretches along the Mtkvari River, with old neighbourhoods and modern architecture side by side. We hired a driver to take us around the historic centre and get our first feel for the city, before continuing on foot.

From the Bridge of Peace and riverside views to street vendors everywhere—even in the underground pedestrian passages—there was plenty to take in. A few views from above added another perspective. 📸

We wrapped up the day with our first meal in Georgia and some much-needed rest. Tomorrow, we’d be getting on the bikes. 🏍️

🇬🇪 Ημερολόγιο Γεωργίας | Μέρος 1 — Πρώτα βήματα στην Τιφλίδα
Το ταξίδι μας στη Γεωργία ξεκίνησε με μια προσγείωση στο Κουτάισι αργά το βράδυ. Το επόμενο πρωί, με ταξί μέχρι την Τιφλίδα και κατευθείαν έξω για εξερεύνηση.

Η πρωτεύουσα της Γεωργίας απλώνεται στις όχθες του ποταμού Μτκβάρι, με παλιές γειτονιές και σύγχρονη αρχιτεκτονική δίπλα δίπλα. Πήραμε έναν οδηγό για να μας γυρίσει άνετα στο ιστορικό κέντρο και να πάρουμε μια πρώτη γεύση της πόλης, πριν συνεχίσουμε με τα πόδια.

Από τη Γέφυρα της Ειρήνης και τις εικόνες δίπλα στο ποτάμι, μέχρι τους πλανόδιους παντού —ακόμα και μέσα στις υπόγειες διαβάσεις— είχαμε πολλά να χαζέψουμε. Και μερικά πλάνα από ψηλά μάς έδωσαν μια διαφορετική ματιά στην πόλη. 📸

Κλείσαμε τη μέρα με το πρώτο μας γεύμα στη Γεωργία και την απαραίτητη ξεκούραση. Την επόμενη, ανεβαίνουμε στις μοτοσυκλέτες. 🏍️
