The 2AZ-FE engine in the 2007-2009 Camry,Big for nothing,2006-2009 Rav4 and some few Matrix 2008 and above is one of the most weakest engines Oyinbo ever made.
One of the major defects with the engine is that it came with defective rings and pistons that make it prone to burning too much oil.We all know what happen to engines when their is short supply of oil in the system.Shortage of oils makes engines have an early failure of the catalytic converter due to the oil clogging in it.
You can barely use this engine for good 3 years without replacing at least rings or even both piston and rings,that time is too short compare to Mercedes’ engines that you can drive for ten years without tempering with anything around the engine.Just change engine oil and filter regularly.
I dealt with about four different cars that uses this 2AZ engine and my experience was bad,that was what made me paid good attention to the engine,I was curious to know where I was getting it wrong handling the engines,In the course of my research I found that even the maker of the engine admitted the defects with this engine in 2010 and came up with an upgrade version of it,the upgrade version is the engine you see in 2010 Camry and four cylinder Venza engine,that particular engine is reliable,Toyota corrected all the errors with the 2AZ engine in that Venza engine.
This write up was not meant to discourage anyone from buying cars that have 2AZ engine in them,the aim of this post and many posts we make on cars is to educate our followers and advise them better.My current personal car carries the same engine,I went for the car because it has luxury facilities I desire in cars,but I have learnt how to handle the engine better.I use recommended synthetic oil for the engine and I make sure I change the oil regularly,I check my water level every morning to avoid overheating,I pay good attention to the engine like I pay attention to my body,and for two good years now I have had no Issue with the engine.
The major reason why people cannot abandon cars that carry this engine is,they are mostly durable cars,strong cars with good legs and suspensions,they are mostly fuel economical cars,They are cars with less troubles,zero electrical problems,good security system and well balanced with correct horsepower.
This engine is not completely bad,it is just fragile and sensitive.It is not for careless handlers 😀😀😀.
