You see the girls in this photo? I mean those on the left, they are foreign students who once attended Achimota School here in Ghana.

They were allowed to keep their natural hair without complaint or controversy.

After all, hair has no bearing on a student’s intelligence, discipline, or personality.

Yet Ghanaian girls, with the same natural hair, have been required to shave it off before gaining admission into senior high schools.

As the debate continues to take different shapes, many are questioning whether we apply double standards when foreigners are involved.

To them, this inconsistency weakens the very spirit of the rule.

Others argue that education should open our minds, helping us evolve and adapt to trends that reflect the world we live in today.
