These harken winches are off a spirit 37 and would barely turn it’s not surprising when they are opened up. After a full strip and service we had them shiny again.

Part 2 - The old spreaders on the Oyster were cracked and badly corroded. Although this design has been discontinued, after several calls with Seldén we managed to source the last remaining sections.

When we removed the spreader plates, we found trapped moisture that had caused corrosion to the mast. After further discussions with Seldén, we decided to make new plates for the spreaders.

We recently undertook a full rig overhaul on this Moody 44, a visiting yacht from Jersey.

Works undertaken included replacement of the running and standing rigging, upgrades to the electrics, and fitting of new LED masthead and steaming lights. We also added custom halyard guides and installed bespoke top hat bushes for both the forestay and backstay — made by Scott at Boatworks

The boat is now kitted out with a new VHF system, fresh TV antennae, and upgraded deck gear, including new foot blocks and organisers. We even added an emergency forestay to finish things off.

Sea trials went beautifully. Even with just a whisper of breeze, she powered up to 3.7 knots upwind. A final rig tune, and she was ready to set sail.
