Официальное название храма Тимотесубани – Храм Успения Пресвятой Богородицы. Он был построен в 1195-1225 гг. и считается одним из лучших образцов грузинского религиозного искусства Средневековья. Роспись стен и сводов была выполнена только в начале 13-го века и хорошо сохранилась до наших дней. С 1994 года и по сей день в храме Тимотесубани регулярно проводят церковные службы.
