Apple introduces the first 8-core MacBook Pro, the fastest Mac notebook ever.

Apple updated MacBook Pro with faster 8th- and 9th-generation Intel Core processors, bringing eight cores to MacBook Pro for the first time. MacBook Pro now delivers two times faster performance than a quad-core MacBook Pro and 40 percent more performance than a 6-core MacBook Pro, making it the fastest Mac notebook ever.1 These new processors, combined with powerful graphics, the brilliant and colorful Retina display, super-fast SSDs, the Apple T2 Security Chip, all-day battery life and macOS, make MacBook Pro the world’s best pro notebook.
“Whether it’s college students mastering a course of study, developers building world-class apps or video editors creating feature films, we’re constantly amazed at what our customers do with their MacBook Pro,” said Tom Boger, Apple’s senior director of Mac Product Marketing. “Now with 8-core processors for an incredible performance boost, along with its stunning Retina display, fast storage, all-day battery life and running macOS, MacBook Pro continues to be the world’s best pro notebook and we can’t wait to get it into our customer’s hands to see what they do next.”

Apple iPhone XR's successor to bring two new colors.

One of the key features of the iPhone XR is the wide range of bright colors and Apple is reportedly working on further improving that in its successor. Two new paint jobs will be coming to replace two of the current ones.
According to a reliable source, the colors in question are coral and blue - they will make way for new green and lavender-like shade. Interestingly, the renders that surfaced the other day show the handset in blue, yellow, white and red.

It's cool to see Apple departing from its boring black and white scheme even if it's only for its "budget" handset. We will see if the new green and lavender colors win over many iPhone buyers.

Besides making the Pixel 2 XL slower to wake, the June Android security patch also has caused several problems for the Nokia 7 Plus.

Just the other day, we told you how the June Android security update resulted in a problem for Google Pixel 2 XL users. After the update, several owners of the device complained that their handset was taking as long as three seconds to awaken instead of the usual one second. Google said yesterday that it will push out a fix soon, and suggested that Pixel 2 XL owners set the Ambient Display to "always on;" this should hold off users until a fix is disseminated.

Meanwhile, the June Android security update is continuing to muck up other Android handsets as some users of the Nokia 7 Plus have discovered. The units affected by the update are those running an Android P beta. One Nokia 7 Plus user wrote on the company's support forum that the update "corrupted his system." Others complained that the security update led their screens to freeze, or resulted in a pop-up appearing that said "com.android.phone" had stopped working. Some were able to get their phones operating normally by moving back to Android Oreo, using the factory reset option from the recovery menu.

It isn't known whether Nokia licensee HMD Global is aware of the situation. A moderator on the board said earlier today that she would try to find out what is going on, and promised to report back. If your Nokia 7 Plus was affected by the June security update, check in with us often. As soon as we hear something, we will update this story.

For future reference, this is why developers warn consumers that installing beta software on a smartphone isn't always a good idea. Such software can be riddled with bugs, as Nokia 7 Plus users have found out.
