Driving in the Heat? Your Tyres Take the Heat Too. ☀️🚗

Now this is something you don’t see every day! 👀

A beautiful Volkswagen Karmann Ghia stopped by for a pair of Nankang tyres on the front, getting it ready for the upcoming show season.

Based on Volkswagen Beetle mechanicals but wrapped in that unmistakable Italian-designed body, the Karmann Ghia remains one of VW’s most distinctive classics.

And just look at that cream interior against the deep burgundy paint. 👌

Always nice to see something a little different coming through York Tyre Sales.

A proper bit of Japanese motoring history in the workshop.🔥

This R32 Nissan Skyline GT-R came in for a pair of Nankang NS-2R tyres, followed by a Hunter wheel alignment to get everything set up properly.

And this isn't just any Skyline. The R32 GT-R earned the nickname “Godzilla” thanks to its incredible motorsport success, particularly in Australia. In 1991 and 1992, the R32 took back-to-back Australian Touring Car Championship titles, as well as Bathurst victories in both years.

Its reputation wasn't limited to Australia either. Nissan records show the R32 won all 29 Group A races it entered in the Japanese Touring Car Championship between 1990 and 1993.

This particular example has had a few tweaks over the years and is estimated to be putting out somewhere around 500bhp. 👀

Safe to say, it was a nice one to have through the doors!

Could Your Tyres Fail an MOT?

Your tyres are one of the quickest reasons a vehicle can fail its MOT, but they're also one of the easiest things to check.

The legal minimum tread depth is 1.6mm across the central three-quarters of the tyre, around the entire circumference. If your tyres are below this limit, your vehicle will fail its MOT and could leave you with a fine and penalty points if driven on the road.

It's not just tread depth that matters. During an MOT, tyres are also checked for:
• Cuts, bulges or exposed cords
• Uneven or excessive wear
• Damage that could affect safety
• Correct tyre size and suitability for the vehicle

Heading off on a long journey this summer? Take five minutes to check these first.

A quick look under the bonnet could save you hours waiting at the side of the road.

Here's what to check:
➡️ Engine oil - Make sure it's between the minimum and maximum marks on the dipstick.
➡️ Coolant - Check the level when the engine is cold. Never remove the cap from a hot engine.
➡️ Windscreen washer fluid - It's amazing how quickly you can empty the bottle on a motorway. Top it up before you leave.
➡️ Brake fluid - The level should sit between the MIN and MAX marks. If it's dropped significantly, have it investigated rather than simply topping it up.
➡️ Power steering fluid (where fitted) - Some newer cars use electric power steering, but if yours has a fluid reservoir, check it's at the correct level.

A few minutes before you set off can help prevent unnecessary stress and keep your journey running smoothly.
