I have been trained to the highest standard by AA Driving School and now trade under a BSM franchise offering driving tuition. As a former teacher, I know what it takes to bring out the best in someone and adapt so that you get the best learning experience which suits your individual needs. Learning to drive is something we all remember doing and such a great life skill to gain. It's something you will use throughout your life so it's important to get it right. Maybe you're a complete beginner or maybe you're an experienced driver who has had their confidence knocked. You could be looking to be more eco-conscious or you could be returning to driving after a period of absence. Whatever your level of experience, I can help you. Message, phone or email to book your lessons.

A thoroughly deserved well done to Maddy who smashed her driving test today on the first attempt picking up just 4 driver faults. Stay safe out there, Maddy, and keep an eye out for those elephants 🐘

Curious about what happens during a driving test? Here's what to expect on test day.

An eyesight check 👀
You'll read a number plate from 20 metres away or 20.5 metres if it's an old-style plate.

'Show me, tell me' vehicle safety questions 💭
You'll answer 2 questions about vehicle safety. The 'tell me' question comes before you start driving and the 'show me' question while you're on the move.

General driving ability ✅
You'll drive on a variety of roads, but not on motorways, including 20 to 35 minutes of independent driving, following either a sat nav, traffic signs, or both.

Reversing your vehicle 🚗
You'll be asked to do one of the following: parallel park, park in a bay, or pull up on the right and reverse 2 car lengths. Your examiner will let you know which one.

Knowing what's coming can make test day feel a lot less daunting.

Congratulations to Dean who went and passed his driving test on Thursday. Learning to drive was a well kept secret from Dean's daughter and sometimes I felt a little like I was in a spy movie meeting up for our lessons (it was quite fun, actually). And now her dad can drive!
Dean, I'm not sure where I'm going to get my darts fix now but congratulations nonetheless! You take care out there. Proud of ya, big guy 🙌🏻
Thank you also to you and Sachelle for the lovely flowers. Quite a surprise when I got home today and such a lovely gesture x

✨ A warm welcome back to Caroline!

It was fantastic to see Caroline, one of our local driving instructors, back at Vantage Toyota York to collect her brand-new Aygo X with Erin. 🚗

This time she’s made the move into the new Aygo X, finished in this gorgeous green - what a colour choice! 😍

It’s always a pleasure to welcome returning customers, and we’re delighted to be part of Caroline’s journey once again.

Enjoy your new Aygo X, Caroline, and happy driving! 🎉

New Car Day

The Department for Transport recently published the final road casualty statistics for 2025 - revealing that 29,918 people were killed or seriously injured in crashes in Britain last year, a 4% increase compared with 2024.

Pedestrians, cyclists and motorcyclists make up more than half (56%) of deaths and serious injuries, a disproportionately large number when factoring in their share of traffic.

This news brings into sharp focus that vulnerable road users deserve better protections when they travel, and that they pay the greatest price when collisions happen. For Road Safety Week 2026 we're shining a light on the roles of different road users, and how we must all work together to protect ourselves and those that we share the road with.

Although we each have a role to play, those with the potential to do the most harm have a greater responsibility to protect vulnerable road users. Throughout our November campaign, we will explore this issue, sharing important messages and highlighting active ways to make a difference.

Congratulations to Tasha who passed her driving test with Auto Caz in York today picking up just 2 driver faults. Here's what she had to say about her learning experience:
💫💫 Thanks to Caz, I passed my driving test first time today! Would highly recommend to anybody looking to get out on the roads. I had a bad experience 7 years ago with a previous instructor and thought I’d never drive again, but Caz’s patience and unwavering support during our lessons really gave me back the confidence I was lacking for so long. Overall an incredible instructor and a wonderful person- thank you again Caz!! 💫💫
