Why would you use an OEM diagnostic tool when a good aftermarket tool can already read the fault codes?

We wanted to see what the difference actually looks like on the same car.

So we plugged an Autel MS909S2 into a 2015 BMW, ran the vehicle scan and saved everything it could tell us.

Then we connected the genuine BMW ISTA system.

Same car. Same faults.

The question was how much more information would the OEM tool actually give us, and whether any of it would change the way we approached the diagnosis.

There was definitely more to this BMW than the first scan suggested.
