Alfa Romeo Giulietta 1.6 JTDm 🏁

This one came on recommendation from a family member, whose cars I already look after. 🧑‍🧑‍🧒

The car presented with a lack of power and lots of smoke from the exhaust. 🚗💨

Found to be a failed turbocharger and split intercooler. ❌

I replaced the turbocharger, intercooler, carried out a full service and then arranged an MOT. All sorted and back on the road! ✅

Got a Peugeot/Citroen/Vauxhall with the 1.0/1.2 wet belt engine? 🚨

I was trained with Peugeot in Coventry on cambelt replacement for this engine and have carried out many replacements since. 🤓

The replacement interval for the timing belt is optimistic at best, and downright dangerous at worst. Failure of the belt can cause catastrophic engine damage, usually meaning a new engine is required. ⛓️‍💥

The vehicle these images are from was well below the mileage of the replacement interval, but as you can see from the cracks in the belt, it was certainly ready! ❤️‍🩹

If you don’t have a record of your belt being done, get it checked. Far better to have it done early for a few hundred quid than to fork out thousands for a new engine! 💷

This 2017 Vauxhall Astra had an intermittent engine management light on. 🚨

The vehicle had already had an EGR valve fitted elsewhere, which hadn’t cured it and the customer was then told it likely needed a DPF (around £800). 💵

I checked the car over before ordering a DPF and found that the DPF wasn’t blocked and didn’t need replacing. The fault which remained was intermittent EGR insufficient flow. 🚫

A quick visual inspection of the pipes told me that the EGR cooler was blocked, causing the issue. 🔎

A replacement EGR cooler was over £800 so the customer opted to have it cleaned out instead. All cleaned out and refitted, ready to go! ✅

Audi A6 EGR valve and cooler replaced ✅

The EGR on this A6 was failing, the valve wasn’t working correctly, and as shown the cooler was partially blocked ❌

Replaced using original equipment parts and the car is good to go! ✅

At just 4 years old this Citroen had failed its MOT due to a snapped rear spring ❌

Aftermarket springs weren’t available in a reasonable amount of time, so genuine spring were supplied and fitted, ready for retest ✅

This timing belt was definitely due for replacement! ❌

Multiple cracks on this belt meant it was a ticking time bomb ⏲️💣

The owner now has peace of mind on a car he’d recently bought ✅

Another coolant leak diagnosed and sorted whilst I was there too 👨🏼‍🔧

A big day of upgrades on this customer’s Passat R36 ready for an upcoming road trip to the Nürburgring! 🏁

The front brake callipers were replaced with Porsche Macan units, including fitting HEL performance braided brake lines and Ferodo DS2500 pads. 🛑

The front and rear anti roll bar have been replaced with stiffer, adjustable versions. 🏎️

The shock absorbers have been replaced with Bilstein gas filled uprated units.

This customer’s Ford Fiesta had an incessant knocking noise, found to be the anti-roll bar bushes.

The picture shows how the rubber bush has deteriorated and squashed over time, allowing the anti-roll bar to move around inside the bush, causing the knocking noise 🕵🏼

A simple a fairly cheap fix, resulting in a much nicer car to drive! ✅
