Buying a kart can be a bit of a minefield, especially if you are new to the sport. There are lots of components on a chassis, all of which are fundamental to it’s operation. Just a few things to consider:
• is the frame straight and has it significant flatting?
• any cracking to the frame under the powder coat?
• rear axle straight?
• brake pads ok and brakes fully operational?
• steering components straight and aligned?
• seat full of holes?
• are the wheels and tyres correct for the class and kart type?
• is the tread depth legal?
• cables free and not corroded?
• bearings free and not noisy? Including the ones you can’t see?
• floor tray cracked?
• bodywork split or ill-fitted?
• is the kart a Frankenstein and have bits that shouldn’t be on it?
• are you buying an old kart where parts are no longer available?
• does the kart meet regulation?
And then there are the engine checks, of which there are plenty!
All of the above can be a costly if found to be faulty running into a fair few £££s to rectify.
So when I am asked why you should buy from Ontrack, it is because I check all of these things, plus many others before the kart is advertised for sale and rectify any problems found. Add that to full engine rebuild and the standard beautification process and it’s quite easy to see the hours I put in to each build and the hundreds of £££s I spend on preparation, all in an effort to make sure you get the best possible start to your racing journey.
If you want to cut out the hassle of trawling through the ads and need a kart you can trust has been prepared to the highest standard then you are looking in the right place!

Happy karting
