Workington Speedway Track Shop

Northside Training Track is now under new management with plans to resume training days on Saturday 22nd June, please help them to re-establish the facility by spreading the word.

The track was recently broken into and suffered a lot of criminal damage, the new owner is working hard to get things back to where it was before and ready for the training sessions with a view to running amateur meetings in the near future.

I have considered closing this page but as I am forever hopeful that the Comets will rise again I will leave it open for the foreseeable future in the hope that Speedway can once again return to our town in one form or another

We send our sincere sympathy and condolences to the families and friends of the late David Adams and Roly Hughes, both great stalwarts of Workington Speedway who have passed away in the last 2 weeks. Rest in Peace.

MASS SHARE NEEDED from anyone in the speedway fraternity. Somehow the opening paragraph in Speedway Star's article on BEN BARKER'S TESTIMONIAL MEETING this week mentions that the meeting is on Sunday, which of course is alarmingly WRONG and potentially very msileading/damaging to Ben's cause.

THE BEN BARKER TESTIMONIAL IS SATURDAY AT 3PM*

As it was my massive blunder, and I can only put it down to tiredness and lots of late night writing this week, I can only apologise profusely and hope that no-one reads anything I write these days!!!!!!!!

All the newspaper articles I've done or other people (Barry Wallace, Lawrence Heppell, etc) have done for the Gazette, Journal, Chronicle and (Cumbrian) News and Star are thankfully correct... IT IS SATURDAY. Please share in abundance to anyone you know who might be coming or thinking of coming... not bothered how big a pilchard it makes me look... THANKS
