Passing your driving test is about so much more than just learning to drive. For some people, the journey can be emotional, challenging and full of moments when they question whether they will ever get there.

Bella has kindly shared a personal and emotional video of her journey with Definitive Driving Academy, showing what achieving her driving licence really meant to her. Her story is a powerful reminder that even when the road feels difficult, your dream is still worth fighting for.

𝗔𝗥𝗘 𝗬𝗢𝗨 𝗟𝗘𝗔𝗩𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗘𝗡𝗢𝗨𝗚𝗛 𝗦𝗣𝗔𝗖𝗘?

Do you know how to check your following distance while driving?

It’s simple!

Watch the vehicle in front pass a fixed object, such as a lamppost or road sign.

Start saying: “Only a fool breaks the two-second rule.”

If you reach the same object before you finish the phrase, you're following too closely. Ease off and increase the gap.

Remember:

Dry roads: At least 2 seconds.

Wet roads: At least 4 seconds.

Icy roads: Leave significantly more space.

Keeping a safe following distance gives you more time to react and helps reduce the risk of a collision.

ANOTHER FIRST-TIME PASS FOR DEFINITIVE DRIVING ACADEMY!

Another learner has gone to test with Definitive Driving Academy and once again come away with a FIRST-TIME PASS!

This time it’s Jonathan, and he hasn’t just passed first time… he’s done it with ZERO FAULTS!

WHAT A RESULT!

Jonathan has put a lot of work into his driving and has really developed his confidence, awareness and ability to deal with whatever is happening around him.

There’s always that little bit of pressure when you pull up at the test centre knowing that everything you’ve worked on is about to be put to the test. But Jonathan went out there, stayed calm, drove safely and delivered a fantastic drive.

A449 Worcester – Exiting the Slip Road Towards Blackpole Road

Finding slip roads and junctions difficult? This video from Definitive Driving Academy demonstrates how to safely exit the A449 dual carriageway and turn left onto Blackpole Road in Worcester.

In the video, we look at:

• Reading the road signs and lane markings
• Planning your approach to the slip road
• Checking your mirrors and positioning correctly
• Adjusting your speed safely
• Selecting the correct lane
• Giving way and checking for other traffic
• Making the left turn onto Blackpole Road safely
• Staying calm and giving yourself plenty of time to react

Changing Lanes Safely – A Simple Guide for Learners

Changing lanes can feel daunting, especially when you’re still learning how to judge the speed and position of other vehicles.

In this video, I take you through how to change lanes safely and confidently, including:

• Using your mirrors correctly
• When and how to signal
• Checking your blind spot
• Judging whether there is a safe gap
• Moving across smoothly and safely

Remember — a signal doesn't make it safe to move. You must always make sure the lane is clear before changing direction.
