AND WE’RE IN… it’s carnage but we are in!!

And actually we haven’t gone very far at all. We have now joined the very heart of DW and are finally connected to our workshops.
Still on the same site but with a different access - we are now off Orchard street at the back of our workshops.
Easier parking, easier access and much easier communication and team work for us — oh my word this is exciting!

WE ARE OUT!!

It’s a fond farewell to the DW Showroom as we head in to a new and exciting era for Dirty Weekenders as we say hello to our new office space and HQ

We have moved into the a newly built extension that’s attached to our workshop and we couldn’t be happier about it!
The move has been a long time in the planning and is going to give us the connection, communication and continued cutomer experience that we have always provided.
As well as our very own separate car park you will all pleased to know!!

After moving out of , the DW showroom was set up to be something we just couldn’t find anywhere else at the time - a place where you come that wasn’t just a workshop but a space the whole family could come and feel at home and comfortable. To get excited about your van and build and to chat over all the possibilities.
We worked hard and it evolved into a retail store selling premium brands and housed a unique collection of Johnnys acquired artefacts!
The show room is part of our history and without it we wouldn’t have been able to grow our business in the way we have - it’s been a constant customer space, a social club, an after hours party venue, our offices and to be honest, our home - we will miss it and it’s chaotic energy - but maybe that just moves with us? 😉

Sam & Tristan are busy fitting some Ditch lamps and a here to make his van that extra bit meaty! 👌

New signs - New location ✨
No, we haven’t moved yet (iykyk!) but my word - it’s all coming together nicely!

Happy Easter weekend to all - hopefully you are out camping, eating copious amounts of chocolate eggs and getting some fresh air!
This one’s at home for us this year - the Big man’s Bday tomorrow , family lunches and celebrations and a long long run for some 😳

So today we’re doing what I’d call a real bread-and-butter job – the VB-SemiAir Digital Unit.

This setup consists of 2 rear airbags, a compressor with a manifold, and the new digital controller👍🏼

The airbags replace the rear bump stops, which are located in the centre of the rear leaf springs and mounted to the chassis above.

The whole kit is fantastically designed to properly “fit the vehicle” – the controller integrates neatly into the dash and the compressor sits tucked away behind the passenger step area.

There are a few key reasons to go for this upgrade. It’s especially relevant on Fiat & Citroën motorhome/camper vans. If you take a look underneath at the rear, you’ll often see the leaf springs are sitting almost flat (they should really have a curve to them) and the bump stop is actually resting on the spring.

That means the only rear suspension movement is coming from the bump stop… which doesn’t make for the smoothest ride😰

By adding air into the bags, you introduce proper suspension travel again. The system lifts the rear slightly and puts an arch back into the leaf springs, which then:

A) Allows the suspension to work as it should - a serious comfort and load handling upgrade!
B) Pushes some weight back onto the driving wheels, making steering and braking feel more positive

The legacy of Stealth Dave continues!
We are so happy that he has moved on to his new life with Darren and Tracy at Rainbow Screens and so grateful to be able to support St Richard’s hospice and all of the incredible and invaluable work that they do ❤️

Each year it costs around £12 million to keep our services running and 80% of that is raised by people who know and love St Richard’s.

Lovely people like Johnny and Katie from Dirty-Weekender Van Conversions who recently sold one of their iconic vehicles and donated the full proceeds to St Richard’s after we cared for Johnny’s mum.

The astroturf VW van - called Stealth Dave - was handed over to new owner, Darren, here at the hospice, raising thousands for our care of patients and loved ones.

Thank you to Johnny, Katie and everyone else in our community who continue to blow us away with your kindness. You make our care possible 💙

It’s Citroen Relay Day!
The latest conversion to leave the workshop is Lucy’s Citroen Relay.
It’s been great working on a different chassis with this build and being to achieve all the elements Lucy wanted to include - space for bikes and biggest bed possible!
It’s light and airy and definitely spacious!

We are looking for a new team member to join our band of merry men and women - do you have experience of all aspects of conversion work, an exceptional eye for detail, a bucket load of problem solving brain cells and a penchant for good coffee and 80s rock ballads? - the first 3 will do!

This will be a varied role depending on levels of knowledge and technical ability but we are looking for someone with experience in this sector.
