High lift camshafts !!
We've got to build another engine for Volvo UK early next year, so I shall be ordering the high lift camshaft and associated valve gear from Richard Iskenderian in mid January.

About a decade ago I sold the first of Gunnar Axelsson's 16v B20 motors.

Look him up on Google, he's had a fascinating career, starting in 1971 when he built a 16v conversion for the B20 in his parents Stockholm foundry. After a lifetime in engine design he contacted me, and I sold a motor to our friend and customer George C.

This engine looks right!

And on the engine dyno we saw 240bhp, on DCOE's; but more significantly it was gorgeous to drive: you could trickle along in 4th gear at 20mph, then accelerate. You're thinking "wow this engine's quick" as it passes 5000rpm, then it goes a whole heap faster.
He now offers the unit with EFI, or DCOE's.

I asked Gunnar to lend me a motor, I knew I could sell more of them if I had a demonstrator, but sadly GA never wanted to do so.

I would still love to have one, and fit it to an early 140...

Buy yourself a rally car, like the one thats winning the RAC Rally of the Tests this weekend. Dan Willians winning PV544, was build by us at Amazon Cars from our experience with GAS 685.

After owning the renowned "GAS 685" for over 20y, we find she hasn't been used for 12m, so Emma says it's time to sell.

The car has seen one international win, and more class wins than I can count. Famously reliable car, having done several RAC Rally of the Tests, a LEJoG, regular outings on our national HRCR championship events, and one Iceland event.

Last used in December 2023, to demonstrate our engine to Volvo Cars UK, who immediately ordered one engine for their heritage 220 police car, and now they've ordered a second engine from us.

The specification is high, but as all my competition cars are, it is correct and legal - we have not needed to transgress the rules in order to win!

It's the closing hours of the RotT now, and Dan/Niall have a commanding lead in the PV544.
Callum/Amy, after their wrong slot last night only had 1s buffer ahead of Paul Crosby, now have 22s lead at the coffee halt.
All to play for!

So good to see the 544 doing well yet again: we built this car some years ago for Niall's father, Simon. It has since been maintained & fettled by Kevin Savage up in the NW.
