The owner of this Audi got in touch asking for an air con regas.

That’s where proper assessment matters. Refrigerant isn’t something the system should simply use up. If the gas level is low, and there aren’t other faults affecting system operation, there’s usually a reason why it’s been lost.

Rather than just refill it and hope for the best, I check the system properly, including its operation and leak testing with nitrogen where required.

Finding the cause first can save the customer paying twice for the same problem a few weeks or months down the line.

I attended this Nissan Qashqai for a pre-MOT inspection and found the rear brake pads were ready for replacement.

They’d had plenty of use, but it was the right time to replace them before further wear risked damaging the discs.

Even though it only needed pads, I removed the discs and caliper carriers so the hub faces and pad contact points could be cleaned properly. It takes a little longer, but helps prevent corrosion, sticking pads and uneven wear later on.

A little preventative maintenance now can avoid a larger repair bill further down the road.

🚗 Random noise under the passenger seat… but nothing actually broken?

Got called out for an intermittent noise – couldn’t replicate it, just happened whenever it felt like it.

Checked the obvious first 👇
Suspension… all solid. No issues.

So I dug a bit deeper 🔍

Turns out…
A loose socket stuck in a chassis brace from previous work.

On rough roads it was:
➡️ bouncing around
➡️ hitting the exhaust
➡️ sounding like something serious

Reality? Not a fault… just something left behind.

⚠️ This is why you don’t ignore changes in your car

Not every noise = big repair
But leaving it can turn into one.
