WIPERS ON. LIGHTS ON.
Lights on does not always mean you are visible.
In rain, spray, mist, or fog, many cars are driving with daytime running lights only. The front looks bright, but the rear lights are often completely off.
From inside the car, it feels like your lights are on. The dashboard is lit. The road ahead looks clear.
From behind, that vehicle can be almost invisible.
What many drivers do not realise is that daytime running lights on majority of cars illuminate the front.
Rear lights often stay off unless dipped headlights are switched on manually. Automatic settings do not always react to poor visibility.
Fog is another common problem.
Automatic lights do not reliably detect fog because fog is about visibility, not darkness.
If visibility is reduced to 100 metres or less, fog lights must be switched on manually.
Do not wait for the car to decide.
Simple reminders for everyone.
If your wipers are on because of rain or spray, your dipped headlights should be on.
Use fog lights when visibility drops below 100 metres.
Turn fog lights off once visibility improves.
A glowing dashboard does not mean all your lights are on.
Be visible from the front and the back.
Visibility saves lives.
