Another repair completed for our friends at Solent Tyre Services 🔧🤝

This time, an intermittent fault was causing the vehicle to go into limp mode. A smoke test quickly revealed a leaking inlet manifold, so we ordered all the parts from Mercedes and Dan got stuck into replacing it.

With the repair completed and a test drive to confirm everything was working as it should, it’s now ready to get back out fitting more commercial tyres! 🚐🛞

Thanks again for trusting Southcoast Automotive Services Ltd to keep you moving.

The cheapest service quote isn’t always the best deal. 👀

Oil and filters might not be the first things you think about when booking a service, but what goes into your engine matters. With so many vehicles running wet belts these days, using oil that meets the correct manufacturer specification is especially important.

Here at Southcoast Automotive Services, we use quality oils such as the Shell and Castrol oils shown here, selected to meet your vehicle’s requirements. We also fit quality filters from trusted brands such as MANN.

So when you’re comparing service quotes, ask what oil and filters are included. A low price doesn’t always work out cheapest in the long run. 👍

This Ford Fiesta EcoBoost came in with a coolant leak, which we traced to a rotten core plug in the cylinder head.

It’s a small part, but getting to it meant removing the complete turbo and moving the catalytic converter out of the way. We fitted a new core plug from Ford, pressure tested the cooling system and confirmed the leak was fixed before putting it all back together.

We filmed the repair up to the point of reassembly so you can see what’s involved. 👇

A VW Polo 1.4 in for a cambelt replacement 🔧

We filmed the complete job step by step so you can see what’s actually involved, from getting access to the belt right through to putting it all back together.

Have a watch and let us know what you think!

P.S. I bit my tongue the day before filming, so don’t judge how I’m talking 🤣🤣

Ever had one locking wheel nut hold up a simple tyre change? 😅

That’s what happened to another local garage with this Astra. The nut was so tight it stripped the locking key, so they brought it over to us.

We welded onto the nut, got it off without any drama, and they could get back to fitting the tyre. Sometimes the welder saves the day! 🔧🔥

Which colour are you choosing: red, grey, blue or… blue? 😂

Something a little different in the workshop this week — a lovely MG RV8! 😍

This old girl came to us with a coolant issue and an emissions fault. We’ve carried out the necessary checks and are now just waiting for the parts to arrive so we can get her repaired and back on the road.

It’s always nice to work on something a bit different! 🔧

Everyone sees the nice garage and thinks, “Lucky him.”

What they don’t see is me still here at nearly 10pm, welding up a Mercedes Vito so it can be retested tomorrow. The customer needs it for work this weekend, and I hate letting people down.

Anyway, one side down, one to go…
