We are organising a ride out and scatter rally this Saturday 24th from the Barley Mow Inn Wimborne BH21 7AH.
The ride out will be a led ride to the coast and on to Sammy Millers Motorcycle Museum for lunch and a ride back through the lanes to the Barley Mow.
The scatter rally is as follows and takes in local green lanes some of which are not suited to big bikes.
NAVIGATION SCATTER RALLY riders will require...
1. A Sat-Nav (Garmin), (Tom Tom)
2. A GPS unit (must support BNG coordinates).
n.b. Using 'Additional Navigational Devices' is perfectly acceptable... Different riders will have different preferences when it comes to navigating a route in order to collect in waypoint clues!
How a 'Scatter Rally' works!
The ‘Rally-Organisers’ visit locations and Places of interest on a map and set 'Waypoint Clues'.
Riders will then attempt to visit as many Waypoints as possible (within a set time limit) and provide answers to questions at each location!
The Cluesheet contains a question and the location for each waypoint.. in 'BNG coordinates'!
Whilst 'Road-Clues' are relatively straightforward to locate with a satnav, riders will be expected to possess a GPS unit, in order to 'hone-in' on the exact location of the Waypoint-Clue, (especially where 'Green-Lane' clues are concerned).
Riders who wish to have all waypoint clues downloaded onto their Sat-Navs, need to understand that organisers use 'BaseCamp' software, which will only work with Garmin satnav's & 'BNG coordinates'!
Furthermore, GPX files can be sent to a rider’s email address, in order for the rider to download waypoint locations onto their preferred navigational devices/software!
