5 REASONS..... why we won't give you our cars for your Test Day at the last minute ✋️❌️

Now, this isn't being rude or doubting that you can drive! 🤔

These reasons are genuinely why we can't just hand over our keys 🔑

1. Unknown Driving Ability:
It may sound harsh, but if we don't know you or your driving style, we simply can't guarantee you are test-ready or will be safe in a few days or even a week!

2. Our Cars Are Our Livelihood:
Our vehicles are how we pay bills and support our families 👪. If an unknown driver crashes on test, what happens then ? Our business would suffer💥

3. Duty of Care:
We owe a duty of care to you, the examiner and the public to keep everyone SAFE. We can't let anyone " just have a go " at the test.

4. Commitment to Current Students:
What about our regular pupils with tests coming up? How would they feel? It wouldn't be fair to cancel their scheduled lessons for someone we don't know 🙃

5. DVSA Standards Checks & Pass Rates:
Driving instructors are monitored (which is a good thing!) by the DVSA on pass, fail, and fault rates. Unprepared last-minute test takers risk triggering ADI badge checks, which ultimately could put our jobs on the line! 😮

It’s never personal... it's about safety and fairness!

✅ Need a vehicle? Dual-control hire companies like Arnold Clark can supply vehicles suited for driving tests! 🤞🚘

Ok, so Iv gone and created a page it’s called “ Driving test swaps in Dumfries, Castle Douglas and carlisle. “. Test dates seem to be at a premium just now with very few being available. This can be for a multitude of different reasons. So if you have a test booked and it’s a few months away pop your name and date of your test along with the location of the test centre and maybe you can swap it with a candidate that has maybe booked there test in haste because it was the only one available and is now regretting it. Again if you can’t make your test date and need to cancel get it posted on the page and maybe get a earlier or later date, save waiting months again. Hope this helps. Please feel free to like and share.

Are you familiar with the new rules for car driving test bookings? 🤔

📅 Test changes are now limited to 2 per booking.

🔄️ Only learners can book, change or cancel their own test.

📍 Test moves are limited to one of the 3 nearest centres.

By introducing these new rules, we’re aiming to reduce the reselling of tests, create a level playing field for all learner drivers and give them more control over their learning to drive journey. 💪

Spring may mean warmer temperatures, but it can bring rainy spells too. ☔

When roads are wet, stopping distances will be at least double those required for stopping on dry roads, so it’s important you know how to drive in these conditions.

Next time you're driving in wet weather, remember to:

🚗 keep well back from the vehicle in front
⚠️ if the steering becomes unresponsive, ease off the accelerator and slow down gradually
🛢️ watch out for any spilt diesel as this will make surfaces very slippery
🚲 take extra care around pedestrians, cyclists, motorcyclists and horse riders
