Now it’s been made public I’m very pleased to tell you all that VP955 is now moving north to solway museum. What a great place this is and she’ll be very well looked after. A new chapter in her restoration begins. 👍

Amazing news! A new home has been found for VP955 and the restoration can be finished.
More details to follow next week. 👍

Hi Everyone. A last minute change of plans from the Speke aerodrome hotel so VP955 now won’t be going there!
I’ve decided to sell the aircraft on as I can’t secure a local home to me to further the restoration works so needs to move away.
Should anyone be interested In taking 955 on as a project or a museum wanting a static aircraft please get in touch with me.

As it is you’ve all seen what’s been done and how good she looks now she doesn’t need that much to finish her off. Some spares are needed to complete her for exhibit and are as follows.
2x inner flaps ( very easy to make)
2x Ailerons (very easy to make)
Port side wing to fuselage aft fillet ( easy to make)
2x engine upper oil tank cowlings
1x lower aft engine/wing exhaust cowling.
Stbd aft wing tip ( very easy to make)

I’m looking at selling the aircraft as a static for
£7000 and that will have 2x upper engine blocks in engine bearers with prop hub, props and spinners so it will look like it’s got its engines fitted or
For £10,000 A compressive spares package including 2 engines with further better props and a huge amount of spares I’ve sourced over the past few years. This has the potential to be worked and the aircraft made into a ground runner but needs a lot more time spent and some parts sourcing.

Anyway it’s time for her to move on and find her forever home. I’ve had great fun rescuing this aircraft from the Scrapman but I’ve done all I can for now. 👍
Many thanks Steve.

The wings I got with the aircraft at auction are actually from VP976 and have been heavily damaged. I made a good start on the port wing upper aft engine cowling that had been squashed when the wings had been stacked at the cricklade storage area.
As you can see there wasn’t much left of it but after a little battle damage repair with the aid of a crow bar and hammer 😆they began to take shape again. Two large riveted repair panels and it’s regained its shape. Still some work to do tomorrow before tackling the stbd side which is just as bad. 🤦🏻‍♂️🤪

It’s time for some (well lots) of wing work after a cuppa. ☕️

Since I got 955 the seats have been in my garage. They were in a poor way from 22 years storage and I should have given these a good clean before storing them but didn’t get the chance. 🤦🏻‍♂️
The leather was so dirty and dry and after a few (5) coats of leather restorer they’re beginning to soften up. Plenty more coats to go on over the next few days. Other than that everything seems good and they move about on the adjustment.

Sanded and shiny. Very little corrosion to these too which surprised me given what they looked like. This kitten gets in with all the aircraft action think I’ll call him Devon.
