π Dyslexic Dysruptors #5
This week: Ingvar Kamprad (Founder of IKEA)
π In the 1950s, Ingvar Kamprad, aged 17, used his Dyslexic Thinking to turn traditional retail upside down.
π Instead of shipping fully assembled, expensive furniture, IKEA invented flat-pack packaging and used warehouses as shops, where customers served themselves and built the furniture at home.
π Assembly instructions were all pictures, no words.
For a dyslexic who saw the world in a visual way, that made perfect sense!
π It also became a unique part of IKEA's appeal.
π His mission was to make well-designed, functional furniture affordable for everyone.
π The result? IKEA became the world's largest furniture retailer. Today, it operates over 470 stores across more than 60 countries, generating over β¬47 billion per year.
π‘ Dyslexic secret to success: There is nothing that cannot be reimagined by a dyslexic mind.
