Not every noise is what it first seems… 🔧
This lovely little Ford Ka+ came into us today with just 22,000 miles on the clock.
The customer was complaining of a whirring noise and had been told while away on holiday that it was likely to be a front wheel bearing.
As always, we never replace parts based on assumptions. Every vehicle that comes through our doors is properly diagnosed before any work is carried out.
Good job we did… because it wasn’t a wheel bearing at all. Unfortunately, the noise was coming from the gearbox, which had suffered an internal failure.
The best surprise? A brand-new genuine Ford gearbox actually worked out cheaper than a reconditioned unit. Genuine main dealer parts are becoming far more competitive than many people realise.
While everything was apart, we also fitted a brand-new clutch, ensuring the customer won’t have to pay for the same labour twice in the future.
