Coton Garage (EDWARDS MOT CENTRE)
We are a professional garage specialising in MOT testing for vehicles throughout Shropshire.

Established in 1962 our garage has been a family run business in the area for many years, providing our customers with a friendly service from a team they can trust. You may have noticed that lately there has been a lot of demolition and building work going on at Coton Garage, don’t worry, we are not shutting down! In fact we are investing in the future of Coton Garage by updating our MOT bays and increasing our capacity to handle more vehicles of many more types. Currently we are able to service class 4 vehicles but once our refurbishment is complete we will also be able to MOT class 7 light commercial vehicles as well as class 1 and 2 motorcycles and motorcycles with side cars! Please keep checking back for more updates and don’t forget, while the refurbishment is going on we are STILL MOTing vehicles in our current bay, so if you need an MOT call the telephone number above or drop in to see us.

Huge thank you for all your kind words and feedback lately it truly means the world! 🥹💛 We love keeping you updated and hearing from you all!

Here’s a little known fact for you… 👇

MOT FACT: 📋
The tester CANNOT pass or fail a car based on things like bodywork dents, paint condition, or scratches unless they create a sharp edge that’s likely to cause injury!
Scruffy bodywork =
perfectly fine
sharp edges = advisory or fail! 🤓

Thanks for being such a great community we’re so grateful! 🚗💙

Ever wondered what “MOT” actually stands for? 🧐

Most people don’t know it’s the Ministry of Transport the government department that first introduced the test way back in 1960!

Back then? It only checked brakes, lights & steering… and it was only for cars over 10 years old! 🤯

Now it covers way more — and needs doing every year from your car’s 3rd birthday. How times have changed!

📰 FACT OF THE DAY 📰

✅ Did you know…
Your MOT expires exactly 12 months from the date it was issued not on the same day of the week!

💡 Handy tip: You can renew your MOT up to 1 month (minus 1 day) early and your new certificate keeps your original renewal date. So you never lose time, and you avoid that last minute rush! 🗓️

Stay safe on the road and don’t leave it to the last minute! ⏳🚙

Good morning all! 🧡
Hope you’re all doing well and having a lovely week so far.

Just a quick heads up that we are now fully booked right through until Monday 28th September! 📅

If you need an MOT before then, do drop us a message or give us a call and we’ll pop you on our cancellation list.
things do come up! Otherwise we’ll get you booked in from the 28th onwards.

💡 MOT FACT: Did you know… An MOT certificate is only valid if your vehicle meets the minimum standards on the day of the test, It is not a guarantee of the vehicle’s mechanical condition for the full 12 months! Regular servicing is just as important to keep things running smoothly. 🛠️

Give us a shout to get your slot reserved, we’re here to help keep you safe on the road! 🚙💨
