I need your help and support!

You often hear young kids don’t want to work, I totally disagree as there are lots that do but they are not given the chance, I’ve trained hundreds of young and older people to fix crashed cars, straighten bent chassis, & repair classic vehicles

I’m looking to build a business plan to set up a vehicle body repair department at Brooklands Technical College in Surrey just inside the M25 (but not in the ULEZ zone!)

Do you want to learn how to fix body work on modern and classic cars and become an apprentice in this sector?

Are you an employer looking for a genuine young person to join your team?

I’m looking to gather evidence and support from employers and young learners to see if there’s a genuine desire to set up a vehicle body repair department at Brooklands Technical College where I’m currently working, this can only happen if I can present a business plan to show that there’s a genuine desire for this to happen

I am very passionate about teaching these skills to the next generation as you will see in all my posts so please let me know your thoughts via email or comment here!

Some months ago the apprentices at HSA made a replacement petrol tank for a 1929 AKD (King Dick motor bike)

This week I finished the filler work and painted it, I’m not a painter but thankfully I worked with and know some great painters who are at the end of a phone so thank you to John Collins who gave me a spray gun and Stuart Dingwall who gave me lots of kit and advice, finally thank you to Paul Winsor from HSA/dentz for running me through how he polishes jobs while doing his Smart repairs at https://dentzinc.co.uk/

We took the mechanical apprentices on a field trip today to see Harding Auto Services in Woking where Mike spent a lot of his own time talking about most of fueling issues and why they happen with older set ups as well as turbos before the lads were treated to two different vehicles on the dyno with different IT set ups, the apprentices gave some good feedback and the trip was well worth a visit, the lads got a chance to ask as many questions as they wanted, I was especially impressed with Mike and his team.

If you’ve got running issues please pop in to see them or call them and have a chat, you will walk away after leaving your car knowing it’s going to get fixed. feeling confident in what you’ve been told is normally a worry but not here!

This week I was teaching how to fabricate a new section of sill panel/ cut it in/ weld it up and apply body filler but I also use this week to teach Lead filling/ Lead Loading, Grace puts our media stuff together and she’s nailed it with this video too!
