Vauxhall Insignia 2.0 CDTi – Timing Chain & Oil Pump Repair 🔧
Long-term customer booked in his Vauxhall Insignia 2.0 CDTi with a major issue, it had an oil light come on and he immediately turned it off.
On strip down we found the oil pump chain had snapped, which is a serious fault that can quickly lead to engine damage if not dealt with properly.
On these engines the timing setup is at the rear (gearbox side), so this isn’t a quick job. It required:
• Full strip down & subframe removed
• Gearbox removal
• Rear engine casing off
• Full strip down to access timing and oil pump system
We carried out:
• New oil pump fitted
• New oil pump chain
• Full timing chain kit replacement
• Inspection of gears, guides & tensioners
• Reassembled and timed correctly
• New gaskets throughout
• Fluids replaced and full check over before running
This is the kind of repair where everything has to be done right first time, no shortcuts.
These 2.0 CDTi engines are known for chain-related issues, and if ignored can lead to:
❌ Oil pressure loss
❌ Severe engine damage
❌ Full engine failure
All back together now and running exactly as it should 👌
