One of the greatest of the sport and an incredible horsewoman!! Happy retirement Mary King 👑

The time has come - I have decided to hang up my boots. I started my 46th year of eventing this year and rode at Tweseldown and Moreton (finished 2nd on Barry 😜), and have now decided its time to stop competing and to send my last event horses to Emily to continue their career.

I have loved my eventing life, and feel so lucky to have had so many amazing horses, and have wonderful memories which will stay close to my heart forever.

Since the London Olympics I’ve loved producing my homebreds and competing up to 3*.

I will be busy with my breeding programme and producing the young stock, plus will be supporting Emily more. I can now go on holiday and not feel guilty about the horses I should be riding!!

Thank you so much to my family, friends, owners, grooms, sponsors, vets, farriers and wonderful supporters that have made this journey, over the many years, so incredibly special.

Our times are through for Sunday and we are in the final wee stretch of preparations 💙 (it’s all starting to feel a bit real)

We had camp over the weekend a jump lesson at home with Olivia and will go through our dressage test again with Louise tomorrow and have done a flat session and a fitness session inbetween 💪🏼 before making the trip south on Saturday!

For me my own prep is just as important as Rio’s I’ve been concentrating a lot on my nutrition and feeling energised and strong ready for Sunday

There is really nothing else we could have done in preparation to go down and we are just cruising on hopes and dreams into our first event 💙 as always a little bit of luck would be of most use 😂

Hope everyone else ready to start the eventing or showing season is feeling excited and ready to smash 2026!

Now offering hospital transport 😂😂

As we know it’s not all sunshine and rainbows with horses! Stacey took a tumble when we were at arena hire and our wee orange lorry was the transport to hospital getting parked in wishaw hospital in the lorry was somewhat interesting 😂😂

Luckily not too much of a bad one for Stacey a few weeks off and she’ll be straight back at it 💪🏼💪🏼

Ideal World. Something that’s ready for this season.
I love a former race horse 🏇and have had plenty experience with them but age and bred not a major factor.
Im not shy of by big 17hs either as i piloted my own 17.2 lux mare for 2 seasons.

A few coaching qualifications to my name!
Iv re schooled and produced a few ROR horses from BD to BE.
Iv ridden my own mares to Meduim BD and I have 398 BD points currently.
Iv previously had the management and ride of a mare I evented at 100BE, rode round Blair 1* and badminton grassroot championships 💯.
I’d like to think myself a sympathetic rider that can get the best out of most horses.

I would love a permanent loan and can offer 5*references. I’d also be happy to produce’s a horse for someone who then wanted to sell on after a season or two.

The lovely pj back on board today! He struggles a bit to balance in the lorry so tried him with the cross ties and partition out today and what a difference 💙

It always amazes me where these horses who struggle to travel place themselves pj choosing to stand diagonally with his bum to the drivers side of the lorry on this occasion

It’s so important to have these options and have the horses travelling comfortably and confidently 🐎
