Nis-Spec 1st is growing, and we’re looking for a Vehicle Transport & Recovery Driver to join us at our Guilsfield/Welshpool site.
£30,000–£34,000 per year
40 hours per week

This isn’t a job where someone wants to ring you every hour asking where you are.
We’re looking for somebody dependable, positive and motivated who can be trusted to look at what needs collecting and think:
“Right — what’s the smartest way of getting all of this done?”
What will you actually be doing?
Around 80% of the role will involve collecting vehicles purchased by our businesses from locations around the UK and bringing them safely back to our sites.
The rest will include things such as:
* Moving vehicles between our businesses
* Scrap runs
* Vehicle collections for our garage
* Vehicle transport work
* Breakdown and recovery work as this side of the business grows
Some days might start at 5am because there’s a long-distance collection to make.
Other days may be considerably shorter.
So this role probably won’t suit somebody who wants exactly the same start and finish time every single day.
But if you like variety, being out on the road and being trusted to organise yourself, it might suit you very well.
The person we’re looking for
We’re much more interested in the person than somebody having the perfect CV.
You’ll need to be:
Positive and motivated – you come to work wanting to get things done.
Reliable – if you say you’re collecting something, we know it’s getting collected.
A problem solver – traffic, delays and changed plans happen. We want someone who looks for the solution rather than just reporting the problem.
Organised – able to plan sensible routes and use your time efficiently.
Independent – you’ll spend a lot of time working on your own and managing your own day.
Flexible – occasional early starts, long-distance runs and different working days are part of the job.
Commercially minded – thinking about fuel, mileage, combining journeys and reducing empty running.
Good with people – you’ll be dealing with suppliers, auction sites, customers and members of the public.
Calm under pressure – problems happen on the road. We need somebody who deals with them without bringing negativity back to the team.
Most of all, we want someone who takes pride in being the person people can rely on to get the job done.
The practical side
You’ll be responsible for collecting and transporting vehicles safely, loading and securing vehicles correctly, carrying out daily vehicle checks and keeping the truck and trailer clean and presentable.
You’ll also help us keep on top of maintenance, inspections and transport compliance.
When transport is quiet, we’re a small business — so we all get stuck in.
That could mean helping with vehicle movements or other useful logistics work around our sites.
Licence & experience
You’ll need the correct licence entitlement for the vehicle and trailer combination, including C1 and C1E entitlement.
Experience with vehicle transport or recovery would be useful, but it isn’t the only thing we’re looking at.
These would all be advantages:
* Recovery truck or vehicle transporter experience
* 7.5-tonne driving experience
* Digital Tachograph Driver Card
* Transport Manager CPC – Road Haulage
* Automotive or mechanical knowledge
* Experience loading and securing cars and light commercial vehicles
