Petrol or Diesel? ⛽
Petrol cars are popular for city driving and short trips. They’re generally cheaper, smoother, and easier to maintain than diesel cars, but can use more fuel and emit more CO2.
Diesel cars suit high-mileage and motorway drivers as they have great fuel efficiency, they are also great for towing caravans or heavy loads due to its low-rev, high-torque engines. But they can appear to be noisier, less efficient for short trips, and now come in fewer models.
Petrol and diesel both have their advantages and disadvantages, and a lot of them come down to personal preference and driving habits. The main differences are fuel efficiency, performance, environment, and cost.
⚡ Another consideration are electric or hybrid vehicles, which are quickly becoming popular alternatives to conventional petrol and diesel engines, especially for local driving and lower running costs. As well as with the UK government confirming the sale of new petrol and diesel cars to be phased out by 2030.
