Looking for a driving instructor!

1. We are NOT waiting for you to call (the week before you turn 17) as we've been fully booked for several weeks and like myself, sometimes months, plan ahead, choose an instructor and get your name down on their waiting list!

2. Asking "how many hours do I need?" when the first few lessons have been completed, is like asking "how long is a piece of string?” Remember it’s a skill for life be patient and enjoy your journey!
Rome wasn’t built in a day.

3. When asked upon enquiry, have you ever driven before, this does not mean in a carpark/forest or with your mates/parents (illegal too)!

4. The "cost" should NOT be your no. 1 priority!
We teach a life skill and it’s fine to pay £35-£40 for riding lessons, music lessons, football coaching etc. I can assure you that it's more dangerous to drive than any of the above!

Cheap is not always good!
Good is not always cheap!

5. When you cancel short notice, we charge! It costs US money as we all budget the hours we need to teach to live. If you weren't paid for missing work, I'm sure you'd get your a*** into work when you've got a cold, headache, tummy-ache, etc.

6. "My mate passed in 5/10hrs..." Really? We hear it all the time! Believe what you want but I doubt it!

7. When you fail, take responsibility for it... It's the grown-up thing to do. It wasn't because the examiner didn't like you, it was a "Monday", it was a "Friday", end of month etc, YOU failed because you didn't drive to the required standard expected.

8. If you fail, you can't retake a test for 10 working days FOR A REASON... You need additional training.
It's no good just taking another test you failed because you didn’t reach the standard required!

9. We, as instructors have heard all the stories about "my last instructor was unreliable etc" and in many cases, it's due to being charged for late cancellation of lessons (Our wages)!

10. We pay a lot to earn our qualifications, pass our exams, run our car, i.e. fuel, insurance, tax, tyres, licence... When we tell you a certain way to do something, it's for a good reason so hearing "My dad said..." really doesn't help your cause!

11. Be patient with yourself - it takes time to learn. It does not happen overnight.
Learning to drive will probably be one of the most difficult dangerous skills you ever learn!

12. Don't stay up till 2am the night before and expect to be sharp the next day. No drinking, smoking, drugs etc ....we know when you've been doing this stuff. Imagine what the police would do with you, should you have an accident after passing your test!!!

13. Practise makes perfect - practise practise and practise, no lesson goes to waste when learning how to drive, we learn something new each time we get behind the wheel with different scenarios and situations, you will know when you are ready to leave us when you are doing everything confidently and independently.

14. The greater the effort the sweeter the reward ...so pay attention and ask as many questions as you need to ask 😉
So whoever you are and whoever you choose as your Driving Instructor, enjoy yourselves on route to your Full License.
Thank you for taking a few minutes to read this message.

We have been working again now for a few weeks , So far nothing of any problem has happened apart from the car having a little wobble,
It now seems as though the people that had booked tests prior to lock down have now all been contacted to re schedule their tests, this hopefully means that the main booking system will re open soon at which point we can get those of you that are ready and near ready organised with a test , Currently the diary is very busy as no body is leaving due to no test availability so just remain mindful of your booking and try and keep your space ,
See you all out there

Hello to you all again , as you are undoubtedly aware as from Monday the lockdown rules change again and this is obviously very good news , however for my situation nothing really changes as the 2 mtr rule still applies , and as we cannot realistically make the car Covid secure we are still unable to return , we have started hearing that there is a possibility that towards the end of June we maybe able to re start , the guidance from the DVSA has been very limited with just a generic message and Twitter feeds very poor from a government agency , I anticipate it will be very busy on the return so I will be looking at working 7 days a week for the time being listening to my wellbeing all the time so I do not make myself ill, very soon I should be able to start taking bookings for the future so just have your availability times and days ready for when this happens, in the first instance I will add bookings from what we knew previously so if your situation has changed get in touch asap , Wishing you all well and hoping to see you all again very soon

Not a fun time for any of us at the moment, just a small update. I will be continuing to work as normal as possible through the problems we face , until I’m told I cannot work or I myself succumb to the dreaded , any further issues I will keep you informed.

Not the greatest of mornings delayed on the A27 large tailback just as we were entering it all came to a stop and we were stationary for some time.
Just have to go with it in these circumstances,
And be patient

05/03/2020

So we got lulled into a false sense of security 2 days beginning of March lovely sun out dry roads happy people. , then whack back it comes Rain wet roads unhappy people , this all has an effect on our driving habits , we need to adjust to our conditions and keep it safe rushing around in the wet really won’t work so be safe and think well ahead ,
This will be reinforced on our lessons.
