Have you passed your car test since 1997? Here's news...

All car drivers who have passed their driving test since 1 January 1997 can tow a trailer up to 3,500kg in weight from today (Thursday 16 December) without the need for a test.

DVLA will update driving licence records to reflect the changes. You don’t need to contact DVLA for this - it will be done automatically

The car and trailer category will be added to your photocard driving licence when you apply for a new licence.

More info 👉 http://ow.ly/EV0Z50Gbeko.

Car drivers who passed their test before January 1997 will already have this category on their licence.

DVSA stopped doing car and trailer tests in September, allowing us to increase HGV driving tests to help tackle the lorry driver shortage.

Good advice from the Police. Stay safe x

With the wet weather set to continue over the coming days, we are reminding motorists how they can stay safe while driving.

Taking to the road in wet conditions can be hazardous, but you have a better chance of avoiding collisions if you prepare for the weather.

Even drivers with local knowledge can be caught out during heavy downpours, as the most modern road surface is still susceptible to standing water, which not only creates a potential aquaplaning hazard but also significantly reduces visibility.
