📍 Warrington
⏰ 42.5 hours per week | Full-Time, Permanent | Various shift patterns available
💰 Up to £46,000 per annum | Overtime opportunities | Potential for a sign on bonus of £2000 for a successful Probation Period

The Role:
Bibby Commercials is looking for an enthusiastic and self-motivated Mobile HGV Technician to join our team. Operating from a fully equipped Mobile Service Unit, you will travel to customer locations to provide servicing, inspections, diagnostics, maintenance and repairs for HGVs and trailers.

What You’ll Be Doing:
· Carrying out inspections, servicing and repairs on HGVs and trailers at customer locations.
· Completing preventative maintenance to help maximise vehicle availability and uptime.
· Diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic faults using specialist diagnostic equipment.
· Attending breakdowns and completing roadside or site-based repairs where appropriate.
· Preparing vehicles and trailers for DVSA annual testing.
· Ensuring vehicles remain compliant with applicable roadworthiness requirements.
· Providing customers with clear updates on repairs, defects and recommended corrective work.
· Completing service sheets, inspection reports, defect reports and maintenance records accurately using company systems and mobile technology.
· Working in accordance with DVSA requirements, manufacturer specifications, company procedures and health and safety standards.
· Maintaining the tools, equipment and stock held within your Mobile Service Unit.
· Keeping your Mobile Service Unit clean, organised and operational.

What We’re Looking For:
You will need…
· Previous experience in HGV, trailer or commercial vehicle maintenance and repair.
· Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills.
· A good understanding of diesel engines, braking systems, vehicle electrics and pneumatic systems.
· A full UK driving licence.
· The ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
· Excellent communication and customer service skills.
· Strong organisation and practical problem-solving abilities.
· A commitment to quality workmanship and safe working practices.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience:
It would be advantageous if you also hold or have…
· NVQ Level 3 in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair, or an equivalent qualification.
· An HGV Class 1 (C+E) or Class 2 driving licence.
· Trailer maintenance experience.
· Previous experience working within a mobile service environment.
· Manufacturer-specific training or accreditation.

The Role:
Due to continued growth, we are looking for an experienced HGV Technician to join our workshop team. As an HGV Technician, you'll be responsible for maintaining, repairing and servicing a wide range of heavy goods vehicles and trailers. You'll work alongside a skilled team of technicians and engineers to ensure vehicles are returned to customers safely, efficiently and to the highest standards.

Key Duties Include:
· Servicing, maintenance and repair of HGVs and trailers
· Diagnosing mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic faults
· Vehicle inspections and preparation for MOT/annual testing
· Repairs to braking, suspension, steering and drivetrain systems
· Trailer refurbishment and reconditioning work
· Welding and fabrication activities (where competent)
· Completion of job cards and maintenance documentation
· Ensuring compliance with DVSA and Health & Safety requirements

We're Looking For Someone Who:
· Has experience within an HGV, commercial vehicle or trailer workshop environment
· Possesses strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills
· Takes pride in producing high-quality workmanship
· Works well independently and as part of a team
· Has a strong commitment to safety and compliance
· Alternative shift pattern – AM/PM shifts (6-2pm & 2-10pm)

Desirable Qualifications:
· NVQ Level 3 Heavy Vehicle Maintenance & Repair (or equivalent)
· IRTEC Accreditation
· HGV Class 1 (C+E) or Class 2 Licence
· Welding and fabrication experience
· Manufacturer-specific training/accreditations

Bibby Commercials is looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Semi-Skilled HGV Technician to join our busy workshop team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with mechanical experience who wants to develop a long-term career within the commercial vehicle industry.

Whether you have experience working on cars, vans, agricultural machinery, plant equipment or commercial vehicles, we can provide the training and support needed to progress into a fully qualified HGV Technician.

Working alongside experienced technicians, you'll gain hands-on experience maintaining, servicing, repairing and refurbishing HGVs, trailers and specialist equipment for some of the UK's leading transport and logistics operators.

What You'll Be Doing:
· Assisting with the servicing, maintenance and repair of HGVs and trailers.
· Supporting experienced technicians with fault diagnosis and repairs.
· Carrying out inspections and preventative maintenance activities.
· Assisting with trailer refurbishment, fabrication and workshop projects.
· Maintaining accurate job card and maintenance records.
· Ensuring all work is completed safely and to a high standard.
· Helping maintain a clean, safe and organised workshop environment.
· Developing your technical skills through ongoing training and mentoring.

What We're Looking For:
Essential: Mechanical aptitude and practical skills | Previous experience in a workshop, engineering, automotive, agricultural, plant or related environment | Strong work ethic and willingness to learn | Good attention to detail | Ability to work effectively as part of a team | Positive attitude and commitment to high standards.

Meet Jak and Tony, two of the faces behind the work in our new fabrication shop in Skelmersdale! 🔧

Jak joined Bibby Commercials back in 2023, starting out in our office before making the move into an apprenticeship position in August this year. He’s now beginning a 3-year development journey with us, learning the skills and experience needed to build his future in fabrication! 💪

Alongside him is Tony, our Workshop Foreman, bringing years of experience and helping guide Jak as he develops his skills and gets stuck into life on the workshop floor. 🫡

For us, investing in our people is just as important as investing in our facilities. Our new fabrication shop gives the team the space, tools and opportunity to keep learning, developing and delivering the quality of work we’re known for!
