A screen full of fault codes isn’t a shopping list for new parts. 👀🔧

This Volvo XC90 came in with airflow, underboost, oxygen sensor and DPF fault codes. Before reaching for replacement parts, we smoke-tested the intake — and found a leak.

That gives us a confirmed problem to tackle first, then we can retest and investigate the remaining faults properly.

At TWR Tuning & Diagnostics, finding the fault matters just as much as improving performance.

A dashboard full of warning lights—and one broken wire hiding under the bonnet. 🔍

This 2015 Nissan Qashqai came in with ABS-related warnings, an engine management light and a battery light, alongside charging and communication faults.

Following the faults led us to the alternator’s LIN communication wire, which had snapped clean off at the connector.

Multiple fault codes don’t automatically mean multiple failed parts. Finding the cause is what counts before spending money on replacements.

A catalytic converter fault code… but where’s the coolant going? 🔍

This 2015 BMW 1.5 petrol arrived with coolant loss, white smoke and fault code 180001: catalytic converter efficiency too low.

You could focus on the catalyst—or suspect the head gasket—but we needed to establish how the coolant was getting into the exhaust.

Removing the oxygen sensor gave us a closer look. We found coolant around the turbo’s wastegate area, providing a crucial clue to what was happening.

The catalyst may still need attention, but replacing it alone wouldn’t resolve the coolant loss.

This is the side of TWR you don’t always see: investigating faults and working through the evidence, alongside our tuning work.

A fault code tells you where to investigate — it doesn’t give you a shopping list! 🔧

This Nissan Qashqai came in with a stubborn P0110 intake air temperature circuit fault.

Using the wiring diagram and testing the circuit, we traced the problem to a broken red wire where the loom had rubbed through.

Replacing a sensor wouldn’t have repaired that wire. This is why proper testing matters before spending money on parts.

At TWR Tuning & Diagnostics, finding faults is just as much our passion as tuning.

Cuts out every 40 minutes… but leaves no fault codes. That’s helpful of it! 👀

This MINI Countryman shows why diagnosing a fault takes more than plugging in a scanner.

Following the wiring diagram led us to the fuel-pump supply and a relay tucked inside the junction box — soldered onto the circuit board, rather than a simple plug-in replacement.

In this video, we open up the unit and explain how a heat-related relay or solder-joint fault can interrupt the fuel supply and stop the engine.

Next step: tackle the repair and retest to confirm the cut-out is resolved.

At TWRtuning, we’re diagnostic specialists as well as tuners. Wiring diagrams, circuit testing and investigating the cause are all part of the job.
