This little Freelander 1 has been added to the collection and what an incredibly fun little thing it is.

You can pick these up for very little money here in the UK but I expect that will change as they become more scarce and collectible.

To me, the Freelander 1 represents what the ubiquitous term ‘SUV’ actually is. Emphasis on the sports and fun aspect.

I’ve been enjoying this 3 door variant with the hardtop you can remove. Something I’ve been able to enjoy with the Mediterranean style summer we’ve had.

I’ve been busy with some minor fettling and the enormous stock back box is soon to be replaced with a slimline MuddyMods one. Beyond this, this little Hippo will be kept fairly stock, showing how much fun can be had without the need to break the bank and modify to an inch of its life.

There is something really rewarding with being able to show people how to drive their Land Rovers and 4x4’s off-road.

Here’s a great example of me getting one of my guests to try different lines and approach speeds to tackle a rock step.

It doesn’t look much on video but it provides some good cross axle articulation. Enough to challenge the centre diff lock and require some driver skill and knowledge to tackle.

He’s also driving what I would call a proper Land Rover. A 90s TDI Defender in farmer spec. Beautiful.

You know what it’s like. You start making camp, put the roof top tent up and then you need to move where you’re pitched.

Thanks to the clever engineering of the Roof Space 4 tent. No longer do I need to close it like I did with the iKamper I had. Instead I can drive around with it fully open!

What a fantastic weekend spent at with the team.

Having had my Roof Space 4 tent for a number of months now, it was a huge amount of fun talking to people at the show. The novelty of showing its strength of hanging off the side along with the panaramic mode, never failed to impress.

It’s always useful having other products and tents all at the same place as it helps provide some context and comparison. Yes, the Roof Space tents are more expensive but it’s easy to see how and why when you see them up close.

I loved the fact our stand was so international, with Germans, Brits and Hungarians all sharing their passion for travel and camping in beautiful nature!

Exploring by 4x4 allows you to head out but with some of the creature comforts of home to enjoy a coffee in the wilderness!

I’ve spent the last couple of months getting out and using the new to me, Roof Space 4 tent. A serious bit of kit for some serious overlanding and camping.

As we head in to better weather, I can’t wait to legitimately use the panoramic mode of the tent!

I’ve been using the new Roof Space 4 tent for the last month and it looks to be quite an upgrade on the iKamper Skycamp I’ve had for the last 3 years.

It’s just as easy to put up and pack down but with added space, strength and clever engineering details.

I’m looking forward to properly putting it through its paces as we go traveling and camping as a family of 5.

It can also double up as my workout aid! I still can’t get over the strength of this thing with me being able to comfortably hang without the ladder needed for a support.

At the moment the best place to get hold of these tents and see one in the flesh is with .

I’ll also be going to a few Land Rover and 4x4 shows where I’ll be more than happy to show you how the tent works in person. Spoiler alert. It’s very cool!
