Clocks back. Autumn officially settling in. 🍂

What’s your favourite way to spend a Sunday by the sea? 💙

Coastal walk or out on the ocean?

🎣 Who’s up for a spot of mackerel fishing? 🐟

A few rods, the beautiful Devon coastline and the excitement of not knowing what you’ll catch.

Some of our members love getting out on the water for a spot of fishing, and mackerel make for a familiar and exciting catch around these parts!

It’s just one of the many ways to enjoy your time on the water with Freedom Boat Club Torquay.

What would you choose: fishing, exploring the coastline or simply cruising and enjoying the views? ☀️🚤💙

October ☀️ = more 🚤.

When the sun comes out, it’s a great excuse to head out onto the water.

With zero preparation, just turn up and boat - why wouldn’t you?

This is The Freedom Experience.

🎣 Thought he’d hooked a big fish… but it was a SPIDER CRAB! 😂🦀

Now that’s not quite what you expect at the end of your fishing line!

Our members enjoy all sorts of adventures along the South Devon coast at this time of year. Whether it’s fishing, exploring a quiet cove or simply enjoying a few hours out on the water, you never quite know what you might discover.

🦀 Did you know?

🌊 European spider crabs make seasonal journeys between deeper and shallower waters, sometimes travelling considerable distances.

🌿 They can decorate their shells with algae, helping them camouflage themselves against the seabed.

🦀 They’re scavengers and feed on a variety of marine life, including mussels, seaweed and starfish.

Our coastline is full of fascinating marine life, and sometimes the unexpected encounters make the best stories!

I wonder if our member was a little disappointed when his “big fish” turned out to have eight legs instead of fins! 🤣

Remember to handle marine life carefully and return it to the water promptly.

What’s the strangest thing you’ve ever caught while fishing? 👇

🏆🎉 WE’RE FINALISTS! Top 5 in the Customer Crusaders Award!

From helping our members master the helm to giving them a warm welcome harbour-side, great customer service is about so much more than boats. 💙

It’s about building confidence, putting safety first, being there to help and making sure our members feel looked after every step of the way.

So, we’re absolutely thrilled to share that Freedom Boat Club Torquay has made the Top 5 finalists in the Customer Crusaders Award at The Notty’s Business Awards, from more than 800 entries! 🤩

We’re incredibly proud of our team, but most of all, we want to give a huge shout-out to our members. Without you, we wouldn’t have a business. Your trust, feedback and enthusiasm are what make FBC Torquay what it is. You really are at the heart of everything we do. 💙

A massive thank you to everyone who nominated us. We’re so grateful you thought of us!

Thank you to the team The Notworking Networking Club for bringing these awards together, and to HWH Insurance Brokers, sponsors of the Customer Crusaders Award.

Congratulations to all the other finalists and nominees, too. There are some fantastic businesses being recognised, and we wish everyone the very best of luck on the night!

We might not have a red carpet harbour-side, but we’ll keep giving our members the VIP treatment every time they step aboard. 😉

And as for the awards night? We already feel like winners just to be nominated! 🥂⚓

Every boat is booked today, with our members making the most of some pretty perfect conditions.

And this is exactly why we love boating in October. No crowds, beautiful days and plenty of time to escape onto the water. 💙
