:
Day 1, Monday 16th June
All Motorway driving (approx. 360 miles)
We meet at Folkestone Eurotunnel Terminal in the morning and then cross to Calais. We will stop en-route at the old Reims GP circuit for a photo opportunity amongst the atmospheric, disused, pit buildings, you can almost hear the old F1 cars roaring past!! Then on to Dijon for the overnight stop. Dijon is a lovely town, and we know a great square full of cafes and bars which is ideal for the evening and ensuring that we all get fed and watered adequately!
Day 2, Tuesday 17th June
Mixed motorway and back road driving (approx. 270 miles)
From Dijon it’s down the Peage for a few K’s before heading off over the hills, via some nice twisty roads, into Switzerland for a spot of lunch by Lake Geneva. From there we head round the lake and over the Alps to the Aosta Valley, via the Grand St Bernard Pass, famous for its starring role in the opening sequence of the Italian Job. We stay the night in a traditional Italian Alpine Hotel, which of course does fantastic Italian food!
Day 3, Wednesday 18th June
Mixed motorway and back road driving (approx. 125 miles + playing when we get there!!)
In the morning, we head back over the Grand St Bernard pass and into Switzerland, before turning right and making our way to Oberwald at the foot of the Furka and the Grimsel. We should arrive in time to have an afternoon driving the local passes or chilling at the hotel.
Day 4, Thursday 19th June
Mainly back road driving. (approx. 175 miles + playing)
The Furka pass was the backdrop for the scenes in the legendary Bond film Goldfinger where Bond is watching Goldfinger, before racing down in his Aston against Tilly Masterson in her Mustang. Again, there will be the opportunity to take photos from the vantage point of the film as we pass the famous Belvedere hotel. We carry on over the Furka and on towards Bormio in Italy, taking in many different passes finishing with an ascent of the Umbrail pass and descending the bottom part of the Stelvio before staying at a lovely Italian hotel right at the foot of the Stelvio.
Day 5, Friday 20th June
Mixed motorway and back road driving (approx. 275 miles)
Once more we head up, going back over the Stelvio taking in all of its 100 plus hairpins as we go over and descend down the other side, a truly spectacular piece of road. Once down we head on into Austria where we will stop for some lunch before continuing on to Germany and stopping overnight in Stuttgart.
Day 6, Saturday 21st June
Almost all motorway driving until we get to the ‘ring!! (approx. 200miles + ‘ring time!!)
In the morning those who want to visit the Mercedes or Porsche museums can do so, both are really well done and definitely worth a visit. If you don’t fancy either than you can have a few hours to yourself. We will head off around lunchtime for the Nurburgring. We should arrive at the ‘ring in time for the evening Tourist driving session if you fancy having a go at the Green Hell yourself. Matt has driven over 200 laps of the ‘ring and will be on hand to give advice and tips to those who want it. We stay the night at a traditional Eifel hotel in the heart of Adenau, which has its own bar but there are also plenty of other bars in the town to visit if you wish.
Day 7, Sunday 22nd June
All motorway (approx. 285 miles to Calais)
Homeward bound today via a final blast on the Autobahn, you never know we might get a flat out run if the weather is good and the traffic light, and then clip Holland, through Belgium and back to Calais for the train home
