Since my early teens I’ve been riding and repairing motorbikes. I’ve now been doing it for over 30 years and motorcycles are still my absolute passion. I qualified in motorcycle repair and maintenance at East Yorkshire College, supported by Honda UK, specialising in electrical diagnosis and repair. I went on to become an apprentice machinist at a motor engineering and reconditioning workshop in Hu
ll. In my twenties I moved on to manage a full scale motorcycle repair and MoT workshop in Hull and later part owned the business, while having my first go at racing on a Yamaha TZR125. Now based in North Yorkshire for over 10 years, I set up my own workshop in Thirsk and have continued to offer services locally, building a reputation for quality work always at a fair price. I am able to carry out almost any repair from simple servicing and parts to full scale engine rebuilds 2T and 4T, single to multi cylinder. I have well established trade connections that I use for specialist work such as crank rebuilds and dyno/rolling road tuning. I own a variety of road and track motorbikes, some of which I have rebuilt, restored and tuned. Over a period of 18 months I fully restored a classic bike from my teens, a Kawasaki KR1-S, which went on to be awarded “Best bike of the 90’s” at the Practical Sportsbike event held at Cadwell Park in 2016. Having purchased the bike in a poor state in 2014 I stripped it to the frame and carried out a nut and bolt rebuild from chassis to motor including some upgrades such as fitting and programming a Zeeltronic ignition unit, machining NSR250 cartridge dampers to fit the original forks to improve suspension and rewiring the electrics. I decided to return to racing again in 2017 on a TZR250 with the Yamaha Past Masters, finishing 2nd in the 2018 Clubman Championship on my own tuned and prepared bike. After getting used to it for the first season I again stripped the bike to the frame and made several changes inc creating a race wiring harness, retuning the engine to my own spec, improving the suspension and reworking most of the frame and fittings. The engine went from 48 to 57BHP (set up on the dyno at Mick Abbey Tuning) I made it to the chequered flag in all but 1 race throughout the entire season. More recently I’ve added a GSXR400 race bike to my garage. I’ve been busy preparing it to race in 2020 from a tired road bike, including a full engine rebuild, finding a company to create race bodywork moulds and fairing for me as none were available (Ragged Edge Racing), upgrading the suspension and creating a new induction set up. I’m a member of the Trail Riders Federation and like to head off road on my DT125R exploring the lanes of the beautiful countryside I’m lucky to live in. Please feel free to contact me whatever your enquiry may be, very simple servicing to running and chassis problems I’m always happy to discuss and talk through any issues and offer my services where I can. I offer collection and delivery, and as all my work is by prior arrangement, I ensure I can focus and carry out the work to the highest standard, in the best possible time frame for my customers.
