So what do you do if you want to turn right here, are you allowed to wait in the yellow box for a gap in traffic from the left?

The purpose of a YB in *this* kind of location is only to ease congestion at busy times. You will find a busy junction nearby, causing this main road junction to get blocked with queueing traffic, so the YB allows side road traffic to move. You CANNOT sit in the YB, unlike the conventional YB found within junctions. But it's purpose is to keep the main road clear at the mouth of the junction.

Driving test swap guidance published for learners
We have published guidance for your pupils about how tests can be swapped from 12 May.

The guidance provides further detail on how test swaps will work when the change to learner-only booking comes into force.

You can read the full guidance on swapping tests on GOV.UK.

What’s included
From 12 May, test swaps can only be done by learner drivers, through the DVSA customer service centre.

The guidance covers:

what a test swap is
who can swap a driving test
how to swap
what to do before calling
Protecting learners’ personal data
To protect your pupil’s personal data, the guidance makes it clear that they:

only need to share their driving test booking reference number with the other learner driver they want to swap tests with.
should never give their driving licence number, theory test pass certificate number, address, phone number, email address or payment card details to another learner driver

If the driver behind is following too closely, there's a danger they'll collide with the back of your vehicle if you stop suddenly. You can reduce this risk by slowing down and increasing the safety margin in front of you. This reduces the chance that you'll have to stop suddenly and allows you to spread your braking over a greater distance. This also reduces the chance of the vehicle behind shunting you into the vehicle in front of the vehicle in front stops suddenly. This is an example of defensive driving.

Major incident declared in response to heavy rain and flooding following Storm Chandra.

We’re working together with the Environment Agency and emergency services to support communities following heavy rain and extensive flooding overnight. Although the weather looks drier tomorrow, Wednesday 28 January, the risk of flooding on the Levels and Moors remains high. Further flood warnings are expected and residents are encouraged to sign up for alerts πŸ‘‰ https://check-for-flooding.service.gov.uk/

From Dorset Council ******

Dorset is still feeling the after effects of Storm Chandra.

There are many road closures across Dorset due to the combination of rainfall and high ground water. The worst affected areas tend to be low lying or where the road runs close to a river.

There is an Environment Agency severe flood warning in the London Road area of Dorchester Severe flood warning for Upper Frome at Dorchester - https://orlo.uk/FfAwE

The volume of rain, the already saturated land and the high groundwater has created the flooding, which will recede once the peak flow of the rivers has passed. But, with further rain forecast on Thursday, flooding will be around for a while. Council highways teams continue to work on clearing drains and culverts to help the excess water drain away.

In the meantime:
β€’ Only travel if necessary and then delay your journey to allow the flooding to go down.
β€’ Road closures are there for your safety, the water is too deep and is unsafe for you to get through
β€’ Don’t attempt to drive through floods – it only takes 10 centimetres of water to lose control of a car.

Check the Live travel updates https://www.dorsetcouncil.gov.uk/travel/travel-dorset/live-travel-updates for updates on main routes.

Remember that standing or moving water can be hazardous to walk through and there may be hidden trip or health hazards.
