If you're running your engine with cooling flaps and thermostat ensure they are in good working order 🧐

Laurent brought his late bay in last week, with a low miles engine from a vw parts supplier. on a long journey it had lost power and blown oil all over the engine bay. Pistons 3 & 4 had galled and the rings were seized. 1 & 2 were fine. He had all the cooling flaps and thermostat in place but due to the poor condition of the mechanism the 3/4 side would only open 1/4 of the way, so cooking that side. He's back on the road now but it's a repair that could have been easily avoided.

Found some time over the weekend to get on with the case prep on the Oxyboxer turbo motor, got the Thorsten Peiper lifter bore bushes fitted. (Machined a broken screwdriver handle for a drift)
Going to be a 2110 turbo race motor, JPM cylinders and JPM cam. 😎
