Over the past few years I’ve had the opportunity to work on an amazing array of cars old and not so old. In recent months I’ve mainly worked on the older classics with the odd newer model. But as of today I am not taking on new customers and projects but continue to provide a periodic inspection service for my past customers.

Well clocks have gone back and summer is definitely over. It’s been as busy as ever here at AJRustProtection where using the Rustbuster Ltd process has transformed and added years of rust protection to an interesting array of cars. Here we go again. Another recent project was this 1972 Maserati Ghibli. Lurking under that old black underseal was extensive rust. We needed to take back to bare metal both rear wheel arches, rear floor pans and boot floor, then treat them with FE-123, then 121 epoxy mastic, and then who underside treated with Techshield waxes, with cavities and box sections treated with Corrolan Active.

Another classic treated using the Rustbuster Ltd process to give it long lasting protection 👍

Something quite different last week was this 1972 Citroen Maserati SM. Stunning design and way ahead of its time but oh so quirky in many ways. V6 3.0 Maserati engine coupled with Citroens hydrolastic suspension 😬

Last weeks project was as this cracking little Skoda Fabia VRS. For an 05 car it was very tidy, but crusty rear axle beam and suspension units needed sorting. All done with the Rustbuster Ltd process to clean, de-rust, and protect with waxes to give long lasting protection

A cautionary tale about underbody protection. This stunning Ferrari 308 GTS came into the workshop last month. Part of a private collection I’m working on. It had previously been treated with a “raptor” type coating 18 months ago.

The coating had totally failed to adhere properly and needed significant work to completely remove to a stable substrate before retreating. I’ll post a video on the next post as I can’t mix videos and pictures.

What ever you decide to use make sure it is suitable to give you the long lasting protection your pride and joy deserves - in this case subframes cleaned of rust, treated and painted with 121 epoxy mastic and, cavities etc injected with Corrolan Active and at customers request black Rustbuster Ltd Techshield wax applied to the underside and visible wheel arch areas.

The full Rustbuster Ltd process & product range will protect and preserve.

Here’s a great example of a classic Brit - the venerable Morris Minor. Fully restored and so came along to the workshop this week for the full Rustbuster Ltd Corrolan wax protection process. Pleasure to work on these cherished cars and many years of rust free motoring now.

Almost new Hyundai i20N in for the Rustbuster Ltd rust protection process. Really impressed with the build quality on the underside here, everything lined up and fitted perfectly- far better than most marques I do. Well done Hyundai 👏👏.

Bit of a special motor in the workshop over the past 2 weeks - a 1991 RR CSK limited edition of 200. This one was No 66 and although had some extensive TLC some 15 years ago, including an engine enhancement to 5.0ltr V8, was in need of underside overhaul. Extensive crusted rust up and around rear axle and suspension and along the chassis rails to the front. Enter the tried and tested Rustbuster Ltd process and surface cleaning, rust removal, surface conversion with before wax treatments. In this case box sections treated with Active, suspension and axles painted with 121 Epoxy mastic paint, customer then wanted black Techshield wax applied to body shell areas and finally a coat of corrolan Penetrator to those areas painted with epoxy paint to really get into nooks and crannies around ball joints etc. A mega job but for such a rare this one will be around for a long time to come.

Another Brit classic in last week was this zippy little TR7. So many rust traps underneath that needed cleaning out and quite a bit of surface rust lurking underneath the old black underseal. Enter the Rustbuster Ltd process to clean, remove and convert rusted surfaces prior to treatment of surfaces and cavities with wax to give long lasting protection.

This grand 62 yr old Brit classic was another recent project, part of a major classic car collection project for AJRustProtection.

Pretty sound underneath, part from a corroded floor area under the back seats where run off from the soft top had pooled and eventually rotted through.

The Rustbuster Ltd process was tweaked for this customer, with all suspension components getting a coat of epoxy mastic paint and, cavities and box sections treated with Corrolan Active and applied to flat underside surfaces.

Plenty of adventures left in this classic motor now.
