❤️ A LITTLE TRANSPARENCY FROM SUPREME KLEAN ❤️
As a small business owner, I believe in being honest with my customers, taking feedback on board and learning as I go.
In six months of running Supreme Klean, I received my first complaint yesterday.
To be clear, the customer hasn’t left a negative review. However, I still believe in being open and honest about the mistakes and lessons along the way. I don’t think you should only talk about the positives — it’s important to acknowledge where things could have been better, too. 🙏
The feedback was about two things following a valet:
🚗 1. Carpet striping
Those smart, light and dark lines you sometimes see in freshly valeted carpets are created by brushing the carpet fibres in different directions. The fibres reflect light differently depending on which way they’re lying, creating that striped effect.
However, not every vehicle’s carpet will produce those lines. It depends on the type of material, the length and density of the pile, how the carpet is constructed, and its general condition. Some carpets have fibres that can be groomed to show clear, defined lines, while others have a short, dense or textured surface that simply won’t hold the effect in the same way and some won’t hold it at all.
Wear and flattened fibres can also make it difficult to achieve an even finish. Carpet striping is a cosmetic finishing touch, not a measure of how thoroughly the carpet has been cleaned. You can have a properly cleaned carpet without those visible lines. ✨
🌸 2. An air freshener
On this occasion, I genuinely forgot to leave an air freshener in the vehicle. That’s my oversight, and I hold my hands up to it. I offered to return and put one in, but the customer chose not to go ahead with that.
I explained the limitations around achieving carpet stripes on that particular vehicle, but the customer didn’t want me to return.
So, what have I learned from this? 👇
✅ Communication is key. I’ll make a point of explaining beforehand whether a vehicle’s carpets are suitable for that striped finish, so expectations are clear from the start.
✅ The little details matter. I’ll be taking extra care to double-check finishing touches, including air fresheners, before handing a vehicle back.
I’m not claiming to get absolutely everything right every single time. What I can promise is that I’ll always do my best, listen to feedback, take responsibility where something has been missed and keep learning from the experience. 💯
