Huge well done to Weifang for passing her driving test today. Blistering temperatures outside, but with the A/C working overtime and a really solid drive, she got the job done! 👏🎉

Very pleased to now be able to offer lessons using adapted driving controls for people with a range of physical disabilities and mobility requirements.

My car is now fitted with:
• Steering ball
• Steering aid with secondary controls for indicators and other functions
• Pull/push hand controls
• Left foot accelerator

Every learner deserves the opportunity to gain independence and confidence on the road, and I’m proud to be able to make driving more accessible to more people across Swindon and the surrounding area.

Sam passed his driving test, first time with just one fault. Spent the drive chatting about crisps with the examiner 😂 proof that feeling at ease makes all the difference.

Being a driving instructor isn’t just about teaching someone how to steer around a corner; it’s about being a calm voice during a nervous moment, a patient guide through a tricky roundabout, and the first person to celebrate when that "L" plate finally comes off. 😌🥳

Licence Renewed! 🚗💨

My new certificate has arrived, confirming my registration as an Approved Driving Instructor (ADI) for another 4-year term.

It has been an incredible few years serving the Swindon area. By my count, I’ve helped somewhere between 75 and 100 of you earn your full licenses over the last four years! Whether we celebrated with a photo by my car or you took your test in your own vehicle, seeing that "Pass" result never gets old.

▪️Keeping Standards High
Maintaining this green badge involves more than just teaching.

It requires:

Regular Standards Checks: Where a DVSA examiner sits in on a lesson to ensure my teaching and risk management are up to scratch.

"Fit and Proper" Status: Including regular enhanced DBS checks so you know you’re in safe hands.

▪️The Professional Badges
You’ll always find this certificate displayed on the nearside (passenger side) edge of my windscreen - it’s my legal licence to teach.

✅ Green Octagon: A fully qualified ADI (Approved Driving Instructor, like me).

⚠️ Pink Triangle: A PDI (Potential Driving Instructor) who is gaining their final experience on the road.

Even as an instructor, there’s always more to learn! I spent the afternoon in Bristol (the nearest hub for this specialist tech) testing out adapted cars, including left-foot accelerators and adapted steering controls.

I have to be honest - after 20 years of driving "traditionally", using a left-foot accelerator and push-pull speed controls was a total brain-scramble initially!

It’s a specialised field, and it’s an area I’m becoming increasingly interested in. I’m currently looking into how I can evolve my business in Swindon to eventually offer support for drivers using these types of adaptations.
