25 years of experience goes into creating your seats. Often blood, sweat and (sometimes) tears! It’s such an awesome thing to do for a job and we are grateful we get the chance to do it for a living. It’s been a lot of years of slowly perfecting our craft and building the business, often at the expense of home life. Thanks to our amazing families for their support over the years and many cups of tea. We hope we get to do it for many years to come. I’ll be slowly taking more of a back seat (I’m getting on a bit!) as Lucy steps forward. She already has the lead in most areas and is who you speak to 95% of the time. She’s excellent at all aspects of the job and is a real asset. Since she has been working here the business has grown and grown. I shall still be working alongside her for a few years yet though so hope to see you all soon.
I think that’s all the information I wanted to put out over the last few days so we will return to mainly posting stunning, classy, sexy seats. Oh, we had a new logo so I’ll post a pic of it for your perusal.

Caring for your Chaos Custom seat

We are often asked the best way to care for your seats once they’ve been customised. Our reply is “ place it in a climate controlled bubble and gaze adoringly at it from afar like the piece of art it is” 😜

Seriously, it’s pretty simple. Don’t use any harsh chemicals, just a wipe over with a cloth and very mild detergent if needed. If you can, cover it when washing your bike to avoid water ingress. Prolonged extremes of sun/heat, water and freezing temperatures will have an effect long term but normal use will ensure it looks good for as long as possible.

You can choose whatever method you like to get your seat to us. We will only use a tracked and insured method for return. We currently use Royal Mail or Parcelforce which is usually a 24hr delivery service (excluding weekends). They were charging £22.95. Recently, there were occasions when the price was lower for reasons no one could explain. If that occurs we will always refund the difference to you as we are not out to make money off the shipping. We are looking for a more cost effective courier so if you have experience in this field we’d love to hear from you!

Our design process…

We’re often asked “what do you do for a…..?” The honest answer is probably “pretty much anything “. That’s the beauty of what we do at Chaos Custom. We need you to provide us with a few images of the things you like and we can go from there. We will work with you to create your own design where possible. Some things are difficult, not impossible. Some things are impossible so please believe us when we say “we can’t do that”. It’s not often it happens but AI is suggesting designs which won’t work in reality. If we think we can do an awesome job then we will. If we say no it’s because we believe it’s not the best option or just won’t work out. If you want to leave it up to us then give us a few definite ‘no’s’ or ‘yes’s’ and we can go from there. Just one thing though…

If your wife has a strong opinion please be sure you get her permission in advance. Your mistakes cannot be rectified after completion 😜

PRICING…

It’s a difficult one. Each of our seats is bespoke as you can add, change colours, mix and match…When choosing a design it’s really helpful if you send us a few images of seats you like. The price will depend on the design decided on. If you add more logos = price change, if you add more complex stitching = price change, if you add a gel pad = price change, if you want special order materials = price change…you get the picture. Everything you add will affect your final price. It’s a bit like pricing up a Ford Fiesta and then expecting to drive off in a Lamborghini at no extra cost.
Speaking of cost…
We all know the effect the oil crisis is having on fuel prices. Turns out out it affects everything thats made from oil products as well. This week our foam supplier increased their prices by 22%. We try and keep our prices competitive and fair but we can’t absorb these costs ourselves. Be assured that we will keep any increases as low as possible. Some things we don’t charge for such as design and consultation. All we charge is a fair rate for an excellent job.

Happy weekend, be safe if you’re going out and about. Most of all…enjoy!
Chaos HQ is a workshop at my home address. This means lower overheads so we can keep pricing as low as possible for our customers. What it doesn’t mean is that we are available 24/7 even though we try and accommodate where possible. We need downtime just like everyone else. With this in mind we will stop messaging at 6pm Mon-Sat and pick up the chat the following morning. Please only visit when an appointment has been made. Sometimes we’re out on jobs so you may be disappointed when we’re not here. Sundays are 100% a day off and reserved for our own bike rides, maybe see you at the Cafe 😜

As we mentioned yesterday, it’s been brilliantly busy for quite some time. This means we may take a little longer to reply to messages. As there are only 2 of us we do everything between us…answering messages, emails, texts, WhatsApp’s, calls, visits and consultations, stock taking, ordering, deliveries, collections, shipping…sometimes we have to prioritise work so we don’t fall behind. Please know we value all your enquiries but could we ask for a little patience and kindness at these times. One thing we won’t do is a rush job. Nobody does their best work if they are rushing. We give a usual turnaround time of 7-10 days but this is not a guarantee. Some things are out of our control…delays on materials, special order fabrics, logos… If you have a service/MOT/event/holiday/ride with the lads, give plenty of time before or wait til after to be sure.

It’s been a little while since we last posted as it’s so busy here at the moment, thanks to our brilliant customers. We have loads of new followers so we thought we’d share a little about us:
Chaos Custom consists of myself (Dianne) and Lucy. Yep, just the 2 of us and we both work here full time. I set up the business 25 years ago and Lucy joined around 10 years ago. We are bikers ourselves… I’ve ridden for over 30 years. I was strictly tarmac from road riding and drag racing, Lucy likes the ground completely unstable underneath her so is into her motocross! Recently we’ve both been getting into green laning which is a whole other set of skills (that I don’t really possess, although I can fall off like a pro, Lucy is much better at it). Over the next few days I’ll be posting more information but, for now, I’ll start with this…both of us have ADHD. This means 2 things:
1. We really care about what we do and we want you to love your seat. We’re really good at being creative so can make amazing designs. We’re good at problem solving so can usually work out why your bum hurts after 20 miles. There’s a little bit of OCD thrown in which works really well in making sure your seat design is symmetrical and straight.
BUT
2. Sometimes we forget to message you back, emails can be ignored completely and, on occasion, the
phone call won’t be answered.
SO (a little tip for you)
The best methods of contacting us are here through our page, WhatsApp or text. This gives us a visual reminder and helps us loads. If you phone and don’t get an answer please text or WhatsApp message us rather than leave a voicemail.
So, that’s a bit about us. We hope to speak to you soon (Pic of recent awesome seats 😁)
