A lovely E92 N47N in for some work as the mileage has reached the limit. At 92k miles this 2.0d had loads of slack in the upper chain, the car was shaking due to a damage flywheel centre bearing and the reverse was able to be engaged in no way so a replacement GB was supplied and fitted.
Now runs like a dream.
Keeping up with maintenance will always keep your car up and running for good miles from now on.
Good job changing your oil every 5k miles.

What does it means to neglect your oil changes?
Eventually the chain snaps, the bearings are affected and the engine will require rebuilding/ replacement.
The car, Mini Cooper SD 2014 with only 54k miles on the clock.
A replacement engine has been supplied, new timing chain fitted and back on the road.
Hopefully the customers has learned his lesson about how important is an oil change.
N47/N57 will require every 5k miles or every year fresh oil.
Don’t listen to your dashboard computer as instead of charging your oil you will change your engine!
Drive safe and keep up with fresh quality oil.

So hard to keep up the page updated due to so many engine rebuild lately.
But once in a while I do find a spare time to post some of the work.
N57D30B 640d,535d, 335d, 435d and so on, the bi turbo ones, be careful up there as your bearings spun the same way your wheels do🙈
Lately the job for this engine is not just the timig chain but oil pump and bearings in the same time, will save your engine from being destroyed.
5k miles oil change it’s still a crucial thing to do, 9 years or 90k miles for the chain remain.
Wishing you safe roads and safe trips!

It’s been months since my last post but it’s not that I don’t want to, it’s just that lately I’ve been so busy that I couldn’t keep up with everything.
For the last months I’ve started reconditioning engines and this is such a time consuming that I’ve never imagined so, but such satisfying job.
Here’s is a 2014 435d Euro 6 N57D30B with a spun main bearing, stripped and recon from A to Z.
New block, bearings all around, timing chain, oil cooler, oil pump, piton rings, head gasket, head bolts, oil and oil filer, and now back on the roads and runs like a dream.
Change your oil every 5k miles in order to avoid this.

Is your N46 engine not starting up and you got codes like “fuel pump relay “?
Most probably your fuel pump relay (which is part of the JunctionBox, soldered to it) may have failed.
It’s not an ordinary relay, it’s a 10 pin relay which normally you don’t replace it but I do😁
Up and running and back on the road👊

1st but not the last I will say.
B47 in for it’s timing chain at 150k miles.
There are some upgrades compared with its predecessor N47 but still they didn’t used the forged cam sprocket, I am surprised. But anyway after replacement the new one it is forged.
Chain was looking good but the guides were having wear on them a lot, so wear and tear will always be.
Still, keep it in mind that 9 years or 90k miles your timing chain needs replacing.

No time for individual postage so here’s some of the work c/ out lately.
Loads of snapped timing chains, some with big damage some with minor ones but still keep an eye on it and don’t exceed 90k miles or 9 years.
Electrical faults as well, bluetooth not working but I’ve managed to fix it ( hate working after someone else🙈)
It’s starting to be a common issue failure on the ABS pump on F20s Pre LCI or even LCI ones ( change your brake fluid every 2 years)
Crank pulley also an important element that needs to be taken into account. F20 B37 damage front cover due to a snapped aux belt and a metal noise from the pulley.
Oil leaks from oil filter housing seals.
Turbos, be careful to change the oil every 5k miles, YES 5K MILES, if you want to keep the car up and running nicely and to last you longer.
Clutches and flywheels normal on manuals while the timing chain is done as you save money on labour because I don’t charge labour for them if they are done same time with the timing chain.
Hope I didn’t bored you😁😀

Originally came in for an EGR valve as it was faulty electronically and I’ve spotted oil around the intake manifold and swirl flaps actuator area.
I’ve advised the customer about it and he agreed to go ahead with the job like walnut blasting, intake clean and swirl flaps out.
When you’re lucky your are 🍀
He came in just on time. Once the intake was out, I found that 2 of the swirl flaps were hanging around very close on the point to fall off in the ports.
Now I will leave it to the customer to say what was the benefit of all of this job, despite the fact that the engine was saved from failure.
Walnut blasting is magic❤️
