Traders are continuing to sell potentially lethal part worn tyres to motorists, according to a Sunday Mirror investigation. Official figures put the number of people killed or seriously injured in accident involving illegal or defective tyres

Unbelievable! A new low in the industry - this tyre was sold locally to a young driver in April for her Vauxhall Corsa & fitted to the off-side rear. Whilst driving on the motorway the tyre blew out, taking the rear bumper, cracking the rear light lens & nearly killing the driver & other road users.
We were asked to inspect what was left of the tyre & what we found was shocking....not only was the tyre the wrong load & speed rating for the car, it was sold illegally anyway as it was not permanently marked as a part worn, but worst of all according to the manufacturer's date code it was 26 YEARS OLD!
Please people, if you really, really want to buy a part-worn tyre be very careful who you deal with - this unscrupulous 'tyre depot' had no qualms about putting lives at risk to make a bit of money.
