We have this beast of a classic in the workshop at the moment undergoing a light restoration...
1989 vauxhall carlton gsi 3000
Started off the same process as with any car we got it up on the ramp, took the wheels/body kit off and done a full assessment of the underside of the vehicle and what repairs it will need and informed the customer.
There was quite abit of work involved at the back end of the vehicle under the rear bumper, rear valance and quarter and a big section of the boot floor, luckily enough the customer sourced a panel for the valance but the rear quarters/ boot floor are no longer available so had to be fabricated in house.
Then we moved onto the inner arch/sill end plate area fabricated with 1mm steel and zinc primered before welding in place.
Once the outer sill was cut off it revealed a few areas that needed repairing on the inner sill and front chassis leg outrigger, so same again fabricated the panels, quick coat of zinc primer and seam welded in place.
Then for the final peice of the puzzle outer sill butt welded just under the door jam to retain the oem panel gaps and welds ground back flush for a seamless finish.
