You spend all this time with a pupil, they tell you their entire life story, overshare during lessons, you become their part-time therapist, comedian and driving instructor… then they get that certificate and BOOM… forgotten! 😂

I’ll be 100% looking out for you on those roads. I wasn’t worried for a second when you read the result. You started by grabbing the keys and skipped out of that test centre with the examiner and the biggest smile on your face. I knew that result was going your way! 🥳🚗💨

Thank you for the absolute GREAT laughs along the way. Seriously, how we never got pulled over for noise pollution I honestly don’t know! 😂😂🎶🎶🎤😆😆

You’ve gone from overthinking, questioning everything and probably wondering if I’d lost the plot… to PASSING YOUR TEST AND DRIVING YOURSELF AROUND LIKE YOU OWN THE BLOODY ROAD! 🚗💨😂
I’ve genuinely loved every minute of teaching you, even the moments where I’ve sat there silently questioning my career choices. 🙈🤣

Thank you for the laughs, the stories and for being an absolute pleasure to teach.

Massive congratulations, mate! I just wish you’d had a little more faith in yourself because I knew you could do it all along.

I’m so proud of everything you’ve achieved. You’ve worked hard, listened, learned, and today it’s all paid off.

I really hope I still get the odd text… saying can I call it’s just for a “chat.” 😂😂

And who am I going to call my Mr Air Freshener now? Honestly, if every pupil put as much effort into making the car smell amazing as you did, my job would be even better! 🤣

It’s been an absolute pleasure teaching you. Enjoy every bit of the freedom that comes with that licence, stay safe on the roads, and never stop believing in yourself.

Caitlin Barker….where on earth do I start?

Well… yes, you passed your practical test FIRST TIME! 🥳🙄 (I suppose I should mention that!)

But honestly, it’s been such a pleasure getting to know you.

You’ve made me cry… twice! You’ve scared me more than once ( that’s by phone call and text), and somehow you’ve had me laughing for 90 minutes every lesson while politely letting me take the mick out of you… most of the time anyway! 😂

Watching your confidence grow has been the best part. Seeing you go from doubting yourself to believing, “I’ve actually got this,” has been an absolute privilege. You’ve worked so hard for this, and you deserve every bit of your success.

And then… less than 24 hours after passing, you casually drive a 4x4 to Newcastle like you’ve been doing it for years! 😂

You were always meant to be behind the wheel…

Although I’m still convinced your future is as a taxi driver! 🤣

Congratulations, Caitlin. I’m incredibly proud of you. Stay safe, enjoy every mile, and never lose that brilliant sense of humour. 🚗💜💚

Mental health can be like a ghost. Give me 1 minute here…. 🤔😕

You don’t always see it.
You don’t always hear it.
And often, you don’t know it’s there.

“Are you okay?”🤔

“Yeah, I’m fine.”😫

And off you both go with your day.👥

But were they really fine?🤔
Were they truly okay?🫵🏼
Did you miss something?🙏🏼
Would you even know the signs?👀

Sometimes the loudest cries for help are hidden behind a smile, a joke, or the words, “I’m fine.” Many people become experts at pretending everything is okay because they don’t want to feel like a burden or don’t know how to begin the conversation.

Next time you ask someone if they’re okay, don’t just ask….. wait. 🫷

Give them a moment.
Let the silence do its job.

Ask again if you need to.⁉️
Listen for more than a one-word answer. 👂🏻

Because sometimes all someone needs is a little more time, someone willing to listen, and someone who genuinely cares. 💙💗
You never know what someone is carrying. 😣😓🕊️

Life is short.
