Been a good while since I’ve posted. After a good remote tuning session shes now up and running!! The charger belt you’ll notice is missing as during the session it was climbing off, so I’m working with an alignment tool as it’s all custom to get this perfected. Lots of niggles and bits to sort but it’s a step forward and hopefully summer evenings will see more progress! Hopefully you are all planning on getting the classics out of storage and ready for summer!

From my recent venture on interior cleansing a good mate reached out and wanted this set of recaros recoloured to match the colour of his e21 interior. Sent off a sample, got the colouring matched and away I went. These will look tasty in the front of an e21 💪🏼

Rears done, ready for refit. Quite enjoying doing these. This is the big shark 6 series rear interior I’ve modified to fit the 02. Will share pics once it’s all fitted up. Happy Sunday everyone 💪🏼

One man’s waste is another man’s treasure, traded some wheels with a good friend for these set of e21 front seats for the 02. As much as a full leather re-trim would be lovely it would also cost a fair penny so I took to restoring these myself, far from perfect but I’m very happy with how they’ve turned out, door panels have had the same treatment and now doing the rears I recently fitted from the 635. These will look great once fitted and quite a rewarding job.

That was fairly ExZorsting 👀 grew up watching my old man build exhausts from a single length of tube and a pipe bender, from Rolls Royce, American imports lots of custom cars long before the likes of pattern parts were readily available. I’m far from what he is capable of as he’s now retired but watching his approach over them years and little tricks of the trade gave me the inspiration to take this on myself. 2ft clearance on axle stands so I had limitations. I planned it all out so purchased several mandrels in stainless304 and after lots of cuts and improvements I now have an almost complete exhaust system. It’s currently centre exit setup without a cutout or tip but in 2 minds of whether to use the existing offside exit. Mig welding is getting better but by no means perfect, I invited the old man over for an inspection and given the setup he gave me the nod which was good enough for me. I will later revisit and improve, equally I’ve left enough room for a centre box if it’s too loud with just a rear silencer. Everyday is a lesson 🙏🏼

Whilst I sort some more gas for the Mig to make the exhaust I thought I’d switch to the interior prep. A well documented upgrade is the e24 6 series rear seats, something which I was very keen on for my own rather than a roll cage which I’ll never make use of. Out of the box they need modifying but nothing too extensive, I went a little over and beyond to make the original brackets work for security and now all that’s left is a custom parcel shelf to match the shape of the seats which I’ll later add speakers too I imagine. slowly slowly I’m getting there 🙂

Revisit from an e21 m20b25 custom build for a better ratio diff, lowered suspension and it’s first official run on the road before it’s off for a fresh paint job. Pretty looking car amongst its son and great great grandson, an e36 would’ve set the scene perfectly here 😍

Recently had the pleasure of bringing a genuine tech 1 back to life, a very patient owner who’s been without his pride n joy for a long period of time for a crank non start fault. Typically these would be fairly easy to diagnose with the common CPS issues, ignition maintenance etc. This old girl however had me chasing my tail. Unfortunately the owner had been provided some ill advice previously and rule number 1 in diagnosis is follow your own path!
After checking every single signal input and output on the ECU and extensively checking the loom for wiring interference it was time to commit to the root cause. The ECU/DME… it’s a first for me for have one fail but I was receiving all the correct inputs just failed consistently on the output trigger for coil on pin 1. In this case being a tech1 it’s the early motronic. Replacement ECU to confirm my diagnosis and she fired up and sung beautifully. Retured to the owner for recommissioning and to make good use of summer and plenty more.
Big soft spot for a tech 1, subtle and classy 👌🏼 Another e30 lives on… over n out 😌
